I want to see the heavy guys that ran 3.5 miles in 18 minutes. Considering the fastest mile is just under 4 minutes, this time is near impossible for a 300lb person. You are talking about averaging about a 5 minute mile.
I agree with what you are saying LK3 about the rest of the stuff, I just think you may be mis-remembering

every single person there was best in the state at there position, our fastest guys ran 4.3 40s, not oline, the d end I played against all year ran a 4.6 in his nfl combine, at 250+ lol.
small guys were under 5 minute miles, no joke times under 15 mins. I could be wrong on some detail as it was more then 15 years ago but I think it is pretty close.
all we did is run, the guys that came form places like Virginia tech and saracuse and fl state all hated my coach, the coach went to the nfl too that year...
in all my life I have never seen such a collection of mutant freeks as I did then, I told we eve had one guy featured in flex magazine, couldn't play ball but dud looked crazy! and minimal gear from what we know...
this group sort of faded as the season went on, arrests, warrants, injuries, bomb threats, self mutilation... really it was a special sort of anomaly that the universe mistakenly allowed, in all seriousness this group of people should never have been allowed in the same state at the same time forget about same football field. lol
I think some people here need to go out and be humbled by true freaks...
