Damn, this sure l@@ks like my CLS550! Nice looking whip. Anyone heard any more about it?

I LOVED the last 8 series.

While you were salivating you forgot the pic!!! Where is the pic of this beast??

Very nice ride!!! My poor ass will stick with the Grand Cherokee!!

Another link with more pics.http://www.leftlanenews.com/bmw-cs-concept.html

My BMW's have always been my favorite driving car but I haven't owned one in close to eight years. The original 6 series was my all time favorite looking car I have ever owned. I bought one from Mike Schmidt the old baseball player. The only problem was the leather dashboard and leather headliner on the L6 model was not compatible with Atlanta summer sun.

This 8 is supposed to be a little lower, little sportier than the CLS.

My problem: I don't buy new cars. I have to wait six months to a year until someone buys one and trades it in. I actually have already picked out the guy, one of my neighboors. He keeps two to three hot shit cars and trades one every 4 months or so. Even my 2006 S500 AMG I bought with 8,800 miles on it. It saved me about $35 grand. I have the money, I just have been unable to justify it. The only new car I have every bought, I bought a new C class last Christmas for my girlfriend cause she has never had used cars. It hurt! I could have bought a E Class with 5000 miles on it for the same money.

I do covet this car, I am probably going to buy the CLS in the Fall to replace a E420 Sport that is getting long in the tooth, so I will fit in better on this board.:D

Copycat! Aston Martin Rapide due for production 2010 and unveilled 2 years ago.

But then again, the new Jags and Maseratis look like Astons too.

BTW, I LOVE the old 8 series too.

Pekkerwood, you are smart for not losing money, for sure. But, there is no such thing as a 2006 S500 AMG. Maybe you are talking about the AMG handling package, and not the full AMG?

If anybody ever needs help with buying any car let me know. Ive been in the car business for about 20 plus years. I do sales events and marketing for dealers all over the country so i would be glad to help anyone with pricing, finance information.

Left off the word Package. Not a S55. Came close to the S600 but thought the tickets would outweigh the pleasure! I posted pic of mine in the last thread a month ago or so.

Just thought you should all know that i hate all of you and am jealous.......even THINKING about these kind of cars makes my wallet cry.....

right there with ya bro. my house is probably not worth as much as that car.

My thoughts exactly...the CLS! There is a student here in town driving a blacked-out M6. The damn thing looks like it's going 80mph sitting still...what a blast! I can remember test driving the 850 years ago and thinking how fast it was. I now have a Mercedes S55 and CLK55 both with more HP and the ABC suspensions makes the S55 handle like it's on rails.

I'm with you Pekkerwood, I never buy new as I cannot fathom handing over the much cash in depreciation the first six months on a car that will last a very long time. They have the new S65 at the dealer in town, which is next to my office, for a quaint $186,000. The same car can be had in six to eight months for $110,000-$130,000 depending on options/mileage. By the way, love your S class!

Nonetheless, as long they phase out the "Bangled" rear end of those BMW's they are hot looking cars. The 850 appears to be a slightly larger version of the M6. But for that money I can't understand why someone would buy the 8 series over the M6? Can't be leg room!

Mung:

When I was pricing cars the difference new on the S55 and S600 versus the regular S500 was $40k or more difference. One year later on the used market it was $10k. That drop is amazing. I actually chose between a 2006 S600 in Tampa loaded with the executive rear seat package (a $5600) option in Black for $72,00k and a S500 White with 8800 miles out of Phoenix for $65k. The small differnce is amazing. I will say this, out of warranty or close to out of warranty and a lot of folks don't want the S55 or S600 due to fear of repair costs.

My girl hates the CLS and knows I want one so every time we drive by my neighboors house and his is out she calls it the "cockroach". LOL

Now I know I am a redneck, I just wanna get a 1985 to 1990 Ford Bronco (full size) or Chevy K Blazer with good miles. I had a full size 90 Bronco and LOVED it!

Ouch! The cockroach, that's harsh! :D I really enjoy the styling of the CLS, so as with anything else, to each his own. You make very good points on new versus used, and it's clearly demonstrated in the resale market. That was the beauty with all the manufacturers rebates and low interest incentives for people who want new cars over the past few years. It really softened the used car market, bad if you're trying to sell, but great if you are buying. Just as a dip in the DOW equals a huge sale for those of us not looking for our investments right away! Buy, buy, buy! This is my third AMG and have had absolutely no problems with any. The last CLK55, an 01 had right at 100,000 miles when I sold it...that was a solid car that ran flawlessly. But yes, and of the S classes can be a nightmare with repair bills out of warranty. Especially the 600, since it has two of everything. They also designed some of the fluid hoses to run around the engine block, exposed to excessive amounts of heat and a fairly high failure rate. The only way to remove and replace was to physically lift the engine out of the bay = labor hours! You made a wise choice on the S500!

The Aston Rapide is such a beautiful car...how can you beat the classic look? I love the DB9 as well. Maybe you and the girlfriend should investigate the Aston's further! :D

Mung, there is no new S65. There is an S63, but not 65 as far as I recollect.

Actually, they make both the S63 AMG, a normally aspirated 518HP/465lb-ft of torque, V8 with 7speed transmission for $127,825 MSRP. The S65 AMG is a pulse-pounding 604HP/738lb-ft of torque V12, bi-turbo with 7 speed tranny for a cool $194,825 MSRP, but can be had cheaper at most dealers. An absolute monster luxury saloon. I prefer the normally aspirated cars for reliability and longevitiy, but I woudl seriously consider one of the S65's in a few years. What do people do with all that power? The little CLK55 has more power than I could ever use...anywhere. I twisted it up to 150mph once but was so afraid of some poor, fuzzy little defenseless animal running out in front of me and ruining both our days, it was almost hard to enjoy the driving pleasure. Can't imagine the power behind a bi-turbo V12!

Kaiser...an S65 next? ::ction-sm

Mung, didn't they move the V12 to 7.3L making it an S73? If not, my bad. I just saw the new SL, and that car loks amazing with the new flared fenders. It looks like a musclecar, check it out.
