This was a summer tournament that is a regional qualifyer, top 3 advance, my lil bro was wrestling and there was an open division so i said fawk it il do it haha. It turned out to be a very interesting day. I was placed last seed in a 12man bracket because i didn't put in my cridentials, and i ended up wrecking the pigtail match (tech fall 16-1) knocking off the 1 seed next round and almost pinning him, pinned in semifinals, then won in double OT in finals (these were all college and ex-college wrestlers). I was gonna give up at one point lol, then i saw my lil bro watchin n was like fawk this i aint losing. Holy shit did i not take into account how much more tired id be at 215lbs than when i wrestled 145. I almost passed out a few times and think i got a concussion my head is still pounding today.

Most interesting part of the day was my first experience with acceptional attention. Little kids started callin me the hulk and the jolly green giant lol, n all i heard all day long was YOUR MASSIVE, YOU HUGE, etc... (im really not, but to them i was). Anyway, parents were askin me all day long to take pix w their kids cuase theyd love it haha so i did like 15-20pix hahaha. It was pretty cool to see their reactions when i talked to them n asked them how they did wrestling etc... then told them to stick with it and theyl love it. Then girls started askin and makin their bfs take the pix, boy i was like damn im gonna get sucker punched now. Then wives started doin it hahaha. After a while i was like ok if u want pix u can take it when im on the mat (i said it politely). Throughout the tournament people surrounded the mat when i wrestled and cheered for me, and i didn't know ONE person personally besides my lil bro n friend who went there with me. It was like i was the main event there, all that was talked about all day, gotta say it felt pretty cool.

This is the pigtail match. I destroyed this kid cuase he wasn't that good. Some of this looked pretty so i figured id post this one haha. This server doesn't allow a lot so i posted 5 links to the same vid in case some of them get outused, only like 15download are allowed per link then its dead.

This was the final, this is my only takedown of the finals, i remember being much faster, damn more muscle and weight makes you slower lol. This kid kept snappin the fuck out of my head, he was damn strong, my neck is killing me today lol. I lost my contact but i wanted the takedown first, you can see me sayin "time out" after the takedown haha. After i won in double OT i layed down on the mid of the mat for 3min before i moved, damn i wasnt sure weather i was gonna puke or pass out. You cant see the crowd well, the big bleachers were on other side behind the camera.

what tourney was this??

It was the MAWA regional qualifyer. Since i took top 3 (first) i advance to Salisbury Maryland where they run a 12mat tournament in a huge center. Brackets are soemthing like 24man, huge. Top 3 per region goes to nationals at Penn State. I dont know if im gonna go to regions as il be 4 weeks out from my bodybuilding show when they are held. Then nationals id be 2 weeks out lol.

Congradulations ....thanks for sharing ....looks like you have some skills . I can't believe your conditioning held up.great job bro .....MMA might be calling .....any stand up skills .....look to be a good athlete .

That is funny you said that. Iv always been told that as much bigger and more muscular iv gotten, i still look like an athlete rather than a big bulky guy. no stand up skills, i have done some, but my boxing and striking skills are very limited. Little brazilian juijitsu and judo for few yrs in my background as well, but mostly a wrestler (greco, free, collegiate).

I think my conditioning sucked ass lol. I didnt show you the overtime where i stalled my ass off to make it to double OT since i had choice lol

Cman- you really thinkinin about the Sunshine state games. I did the the highschool and collegiate tourny when I was a senior and it was rediculous. I think the brackets were 60 plus guys and it was a 3 day event. I wouldn't mind getting my butt back into shape and giving it a shot.

No way, where is this tournament held? Whats the calibur of wrestling? NJ wrestling is usually a lot different than other states. Iv pinned 3x state champs from other states lol
 
Telegraphed the Hi C but it was still effective. That is where might = right comes into play. Looks like the Hi C is your favorite move just needs to be closer when your shot starts. Sorry, I coach wrestling and everything I see I have the tendency to point out negatives first. Conditioning held up, which is unlike those in the open we just had last weekend. You could definatley tell those that were in good shape and those that weren't. Nice job TP4U. Hell it takes a special kind of athlete just to wrestle in the first place. Most are just loud mouth pussies who say they want to play basketball. Sorry to those members who play b-ball. IMO. Good work. I have been wroking on the conditioning with my athletes and they have started lifting and going to off-season tourneys. Anyone have any lifting programs handy for high school wrestlers. Thanks in advance.

There are two big tourny's in FL, its been about 10 years since I did one of these so I'll try to give you as accurate info as possible. One is the Sunshine Open held around winter time and its a highschool and collegiate(open) tourney. Lots of Univ. are there so its a way for guys to get looked at. The other is the Sunshine State Games held close to summer time and I think its a multi-sport event, with a wrestling tourney in Freestyle and Greco. I did the Sunshine Open and it was ridiculous. I remember seeing some brackets and it was one sheet taped to another all the way down to the ground.

Traps, I would think any explosive style training would work - DL, Squat, Good morings, etc. Check out Ironaddicts.com he has a bunch of variations to WestSide Barbell routines that might help you out.

Well you got to remember, 215 is a LOT different than 145lbs. My shots are a good amount slower than i used to have, so its a different style. They are ALL DEFENSE, its easier to hit a high c when they are attacking, its another story when they are blocking blocking blocking and looking for a tieup (you cant get too close for a shot, thats why i shot far away n relied on speed + strength). Like i said first kid i wrestled wasnt that good, so i played around thats not how i wrestle serious. The last guy was more serious and he blocked near all my setups and shots except that one and one at the end of the 3rd i didnt have time to finnish, so we went into OT.

ADD: Yes any explosive strength regimine is whats going to improve wrestling strength. For anyone who knows the sport, its all about hip strength and mobility and agility. The absolute best exercise IMO for any wrestler is power cleans. I know almost ALL D1 college wrestlers do them. Me personally when i was in high school, end of my junior yr i weighed 150lbs n started power cleaning all summer. I started at 135lbs for 8 reps, worked up to doing 245x4 IN SEASON the following year at bodyweight of 145lbs and il be damned if i didnt realize how much more powerful i was and able to power through moves i never used to be able to (sucking in legs, upper body moves, wizzers, front headlock, arm bars, etc..). Also realized i was MUCH faster on shots and agility moves. Squats also helped a lot. I was doin 225x6-8 at 145lbs in season, and kids would get in DEEP and id power out of it. You get good and strong at these 2 exercises and then return to the mat, i guarantee ur gonna be vastly improved with quickness, speed, strength and balance.
