Bone can start turning to soft tissue due to lack of blood flow to that area. One doctor's description referred to it like a mushy apple. This happened to my sister. She needed a hip replacement (at 36) because her hip bone started turning to mush due to lack of blood flow. She's a personal trainer and a cardio freak so nothing has slowed her down. As for you, I really hope the doctors can get a head of this and take corrective action for her. I would keep going to doctor's until you see one that has seen this before.

MRI came back and there was supposedly nothing there. We are looking into some sports Drs for second opinions... Something just isn't right. We will keep everyone updated

What a shame. I was thinking the same as Aliendogstar with the blood flow concern. I'm sure you ruled out the possibility of diabetes? Maybe a blood vessel was pinched during the break?

Sending out a smile from 75 miles away to the girl who always smiles. She is lucky to have you. You are lucky to have each other. This too, shall pass. Be vigilant, but patient.

I'm guessing they have some amazing sports docs in Athens. Or Emory.

Well we went and got a second opinion... The first doctor didn't seem to know shit about anything.

This Doctor didn't even need to look at her MRI's to tell what the problem was... Small fracture on top of her foot and her tendons are loose... The deteriorated bone is not a issue and the Dr said she can AND should keep doing what she wants. Lifting, running, etc may be painful but no further damage can be done. May need surgery to tighten tendon back back up, but it doesn't have to be done ASAP...
