Protein apparantly destroying our kidneys ... LOL

We had a Maine coon cat whose kidneys were shutting down so the vet said to give him low protein food. The vet gave him 6 months but he lived another two years to 18, and this was a few years ago.

Anyway, I dont think too much can be good.

A lot of people ARE consuming way too much protein and possibly damaging their kidneys. It's not about the total number of grams, but rather the percentage of their total calories. If you a breaking down a lot of protein, it IS stressing your kidneys, now they may be able to handle it, but it depends on what else is stressing them also...

Don't bother reading anything that's on the news. BBC, CNN, FOX, etc. Total garbage.

Mainstream media is for mainstream retardation.

To be honest, anytime I've gone super high on protein (400+ grams), I've experienced kidney pain and bodyfat gain. I weigh about 225, and as long as I keep it around 300-325 grams, I'm fine.

So what do you read?

Anyways, this is old research; many doctors and nephrologists agree that this may be overstated. I don't know about any studies, but this is coming from individuals at a top ten university

Ive been eating over 100grams of protein a day since I was little. My parents used to call me a carnivore as a child. My kidneys are perfectly fine 25 years later... and I eat a hell of a lot more protein than that since I started weight training at 15. My kidneys actually just told BBC to fuck off. They wanted me to share that with you all. :D

ok guys.. I have sent this challenge out before when bull shit like this comes out... do a search ...find me a peer reviewed scientific study INVOLVING HEALTHY people ...were too much protein damages kidneys ,,, go ahead,, I dare you

My last dr. Check up I told him I started whey shakes. He told me to much protein would damage my kidneys and liver. I WANTED TO REPLAY (not as much as these A-bombs I am going to eat)

right?! i think a lot of the bad rap on meat and protein is the crap people eat with it. they publish data leading us to believe that a high protein diet is bad for our kidneys, red meat is bad for our hearts, etc... who do they poll for these initial studies? some fat-ass who is sedentary and eats his overly-huge portion of red meat with a twice-baked potato or two, probably dessert, probably a regular soda, etc.. and they conclude that eating red meat increases risk of heart disease. what if you eat it like i do? a reasonable portion of meat with a huge portion of veggies? or they see that low protein diets benefit people with early kidney disease and extrapolate from that that healthy people will harm their kidneys with 200g/day.
i wish that poor-quality science and sensationalist media had a lovechild so that when he grow up i could punch him in the face
