Raw Milk

I was curious if any of you that live on or near farms drink/supplement with raw milk.

I know the old timers rave about the benefits of raw milk claiming the pasturization kills the nutrients and growth factors in the milk as well as a number of other health benefits. I've also read how bulgarian children are very muscular and they eat a good bit of raw and cultured dairy products.

On a side note, they said that protein powders should be taken with some sort of fat because it doesn't absorb well alone. or any kind protein for that matter. that was new to me. is that true? I always thought fats were good but was not under the impression they were this important.

i wouldnt drink that stuff...its probably pasteurized(sp) for a reason.

If you look into milk and the history of health issues surrounding cultures who drink cow's milk, you would be shocked. I have always stood up for milk until the last couple months. I have come across so much information from top medical professionals all over the world that I have eliminated it completely from not only my diet but my entire family's diet.

Before you go jumping on me (like I may have with some others), I urge you to read up on some of the info out there and then give your opinion. I think you will be surprised.

Skip, are you refering to raw milk or store milk? the two are entirely different.

People have been drinking raw milk since the dawn of time. Pasturization was invented at about the same time health in America began to decline.

I for one support raw milk and drink as much as I can get my hands on. Milk has built more muscle than all the steroids in the world combined.

Raw milk is to grimmy like drinking kool aid with sand in it. Plus hopefully now days the milk I get will come with added tren and HGH in it :p . I know antibiotics etc but I like milk. MM

I am not familiar with raw milk, admittedly. However, as bad as added hormones and pasteurization may be, those are not the only concerns that I have with milk. The make up of milk, itself, is not meant to be consumed by humans, in my opinion. I could go on and on but I am not the kind of guy that tries to convert others to my way of thinking. I still would encourage anyone to look into the issues surrounding milk but I won't wage the war, myself. : )

Even if milk has built more muscle than anything else in the world, it doesn't take away from the fact that it is incredibly unhealthy ( in my opinion ).

Hey Skip

Give us some links so we can look into this a little deeper. I'm always interested in expanding my knowledge.

what about soy milk?

there's lot of good information about nutrition including a section on soy and a section on raw milk at this website.

I would appreciate some links that changed a strong milk advocate. If I put milk is bad in a search engine I know I get tons of stuff but you could also put breathing is bad and have some wacko try to prove breathing is bad.

I am JUST starting to ramp up my milk drinking and actually looking at buying a couple cows and goats so I want to learn BEFORE I do that.

Thanks

Then drink your milk. I do not care if you or anyone else stops drinking milk and I don't mean that in a shitty way, either. I was just pointing out that if you would take a look at the massive amount of info from top doctors, pediatricians, etc., in the field of medicine, you may think differently about it.

For the record, just because YOU don't see a link between drinking milk and dying, doesn't mean it isn't happening. That is a pretty weak statement when you say " no one I know has died from it ". Come on, now, Jerry. Don't hate me yet. I am not jumping on the granola eating, tree hugging, vegan world tour, here. lol I am just passing along info that I was unaware existed and thought that some of you may be interested in reading it - that's all.

I drank a TON of milk growing up. I LOVE the taste of the stuff. That has nothing at all to do with what I am talking about.

For the others that were interested in how I initially came to this decision or problem, here is the link to my thread explaning it. I will find some links but I may not be able to get them until I get home as I am not on my home PC right now.

Here is the link:

Again, I want to be crystal clear that I am not pushing this on anyone. I am simply putting the info out there that I was unaware of even existed. I have argued ON THIS BOARD as recently as a month or so ago that milk is fine and that it is considered a great source of protein and should be consumed. As most know, I am not exactly an idiot in the area of performance nutrition.

So, I am asking you all to keep an open mind as you read this information and not come back on me and start an argument about how you are so right and I am so wrong. It is for informational purposes, only. If you continue to drink milk, that is fine by me. I eliminated it from my household with the exception of my 4 month old because I can't seem to get around it with her because of breast feeding issues with my wife. I am looking into alternatives, though.

If you have kids, you will see the connection right away between breast fed children and non-breast fed children. If you don't have kids, you have no idea. I have 2 that have breast fed exclusively and I have 2 that have had to use milk based formula after only being able to breast feed for about a month and it is OBVIOUS the differences between them.

Skip ever since you posted that stuff over at your site I started reducing my milk intake (haven't cut it out COMPLETELY, but damn near) and I can tellyou that I feel a difference. It used to make up a big part of my diet for quick liquid protein but I guess I never really noticed the extent of the milk allergy that I had until I started reducing my intake. I feel leaner (although I don't think I truly am), I am not bloated at all anymore (was thinking that it was just all the other food making me bloated) and I don't get headaches NEARLY as often as I used to. And would you believe it, my sinuses are now clearer. These were all problems that I had my entire life and I have always been a big milk drinker. Just wanted to give you a little support here so that people know that you aren't crazy and over-analyzing and over-obsessing about this. You can drink milk all you want but I still ask that if you're concerned, read up. You'll be surprised. Hell, give it a test run for a while with no milk.

Again, I am not a pusher either, just be open-minded. If you feel that milk causes you absolutely no problems and refuse to believe that it can please be our guest and drink to your heart's content.

Skip do you consider things like the Hood Low Carb 'milk' to be really considered that? The way I see it, that stuff is probably so processed that it's not really considered 'milk' as we know it anymore. Do you think it could cause the same problems that regular milk is accused of?

Well I am going to give it a shot for 2 weeks and see if I notice a differance.

On another thread someone said they did a juice clense and took liver support sups and lost the bloat they had and about 3" on their waste. Perhaps the real reason was they stopped the dairy while on the juice clense.

I got nothing to lose and I have been feeling very bloated and don't feel hungry even HOURS after eating.

Thanks Skip

Hey, it can't hurt man. I think the benefits that you would receive after two weeks though would be mostly from your individual allergic reaction subsiding.

Good luck, it's helped me and the info that Skip gives out turns out to be a real eye-opener.

US, I am glad to hear that you gave it a shot and I am not surprised that your sinuses have cleared up, too.

Crowler, be sure and let me know your results and how you feel after a couple weeks. In fact, anyone who might decide to give this a quick shot of a couple weeks, please come back to this thread and post your results. This could get interesting if everyone goes into this with an open mind.

Skip,

I definitely will.

Actually I will start day after tomorrow. We just got a gallon of mild I don't want to waste ;)

VERY strange happeining this AM> My wife has been saying she felt 'strange' feeling in her abdomen area. But since english is not her first language I was not sure what she was talking about if it was indigestion, bloating or the fact that the Dr. THINKS she just had a miscarrage. BUT she has had some major digestive problems in the past. Well she LOVES milk. I have seen her drink 2 BIG glasses one right after the other and thought nothing of it since she isn't fat.

Well, I read this thread last night, go to bed and in the AM my wife says all night she had discomfort and I said hey remember that guy names Skip who trained me last year he is saying just try going without dairy for a few weeks.

She says WOW I was JUST thinking last night to stop drinking milk and see if it helps my stomach.

That is REALLY something since as I say she LOVES milk and we have NEVER talked about maybe it is bad or ANYTHING like that. So a MAJOR coincidence. I never want to say I am NEVER going to eat or drink something again BUT I will give it a shot and report back.

Thanks again and hope all is well Skip.
