WOW is all I can say. I can't run or do anything that sends impact force up my legs due to arthritis in my lower back (SI joint). I've never gotten as good of a workout from a stationary bike or elliptical. So I just went and bought a rower from WaterRower, holy shit is all I can say.
The company recommended 15-17 liters for athletes and less for non. SO I put 16 liters in thinking I could do it no problem. Two minutes is all I got before I was completely smoked. But I must say I felt NO pain in my back, knees or shins which have always limited my ability to perform cardio. After 2 minutes though my legs, calves, arms and lats were shaking from the workout.
Tommorow I'll take some water out and try for 20 minutes at a lower stroke rate. If you guys have never tried rowing I think it's worth a try. Now I know why they say it's the best cardio exercise going.
