Sick from protein drink?

I've noticed recently that I'm feeling weak almost dizzy after drinking my pre/postworkout whey protein. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so how did you fix it? I usually drink 75 grams pre-workout and 75 grams post-workout. I've read that using the same brand/type of protein can cause an allergic reaction overtime, so I've been using different brands of protein but it hasn't helped. My favorite brand is Optimum whey, I've used EAS and currently using proteinfactory.

iv never herd of this before. maybe for pot workout drink you should add soem sugar/dextros and you might have low sugar levels after workout makign you dizzy but from protein iv NEVER in my life herd of this issue.
it must be somthing else

I've heard this plenty of times, especially when guys diet on low carbs and have big whey shakes. It's probably a blood sugar issue in these cases. Just this week a guy dieting hard told me he almost fell off the bike during cardio cause he was so dizzy... only had a whey shake that day. Of course you could say it would've happened with other proteins as well but I think whey makes it worse. Slow digesting proteins don't seem to cause these blood sugar dips as often.

I don't tolerate whey well at all. I mentioned it in some other thread. Makes me nauseous for hours. Isolate, hydrolyzed, concentrate, doesn't matter what kind.

i agree, when i was on a bad diet, shakes made me sick. (tried to use shakes as a 75% source of protein, just a bad diet all around) now that im wising up, and eating clean foods with plenty pro, i need less of the shakes, and they dont make me sick.

KillerStack thanks for your experience sounds like mine. I think it is a hypoglycemic response. I'm not clear on the physiology but it sure doesn't feel good. I've had to wait to go to the gym for a few hours after my pre-workout shake because I feel horrible. I'm now using more casein protein in my shakes to see if it makes a difference.

Happens to me from time to time. I have no idea what's going on tho.

You are going hypoglycemic after drinking the shake. This happens with a lot of people after they consume a large amounts of whey protein at once as it is known to induce a huge insulin response at that amount.

What sources do you use for extra protein needs since you dont tolerate whey.

I've had that happen with pure proteins. Stuff with zero carbs and zero fat for some reason makes me light headed

Happens with whey all the time to me and countless other people.

Of course, when you're living largely on protein powder for convenience's sake, headaches are inevitable because it starts to taste like shit in a cup.
