Guys,

I just stepped back into the gym for the first time in a long while and I did chest and tris on thursday and today my pecs right around my armpit where they connect to my arm and my tris are sore as hell. Like so sore I can extend my arm sore. I have never had this happen this bad before. i didnt really push myself hard either. I was slowly working back into the groove but this is ridiculous? I massage my chest and tris and it feel better for about 10 minutes and then hurts like a son of a bitch again. I know nothing is torn becuase I didnt feel a tear nor is anything balck or blue, its just hella sore. How the hell do I get rid of this. I am gonna try to work shoulders tomorrow and just work through the pain but damn its bad. I am only 26. WTF!

Any help?

I had something like that before. Turned out to just be a bad strain, but it hurt like hell. I just laid off a little and healed pretty fast.

Yes i just was that way a few days ago after not doing legs for awhile. haha

Pretty much what others said.

along with that, it would be a good idea to enage in some active recovery work.

put some very very light weight on the bar and do high reps on the bench. make sure this weight is pretty light, it shouldn't be taxing in the slightest bit. maybe 20% of your ur 1RM.

maybe a few sets of 25 , 30 , or 50 spaced out as evenly as possible if can throughout the day. adding up to 100 reps MAXIMUM, thats about the highest you should go.

this helps bring blood and nutrients to the muscle which will help aid in recovery and muscle soreness.

Mav in all your years of liftin you never once did legs to the point where you couldnt stand and were puking and dizzy and felt like you were gonna pass out and couldnt walk worth of shit for the next 4 days? lol memories, this doesnt happen to me anymore no matter how hard i hit em lol (is that good or bad? lol)

Oh yeah bro i have puked many times lifting legs and yes my legs were sore but that never really bothers me. I guess I havent flet this sore since i started lifting back when I was 16. Thats 10 years ago. But I did the massage and hot tub and it seems to be helping. It feels like a strain but I know its just from not lifting for a very long time.

Besides I dont lift to be a boldybuilder anymore. I race jet skis now on the IJSBA and AWA. So now my lifting is for more functionality than size. Cant race a jet ski at 220. Not when my competitors are 150 and 160lbs. LOL!! I got stay in the 180 range.

epsom salts

hey man, i cant belierve noboddy metioned this,. try some epsom salts in the tub for like 30 minutes or so, your whole body will relax. it helps break down the lactic acid build up in the muscles.

just kidding but do step 2 3 times a day and do get a mild massage at first the release the lactic acid and cut back on the muscle trauma
 
lactic acid is metabolized very rapidly by the body...

but epsom salt baths will help
 
I appreciate all the help guys. I did the massgae and hot tub and it made things easier. But I went to the gym this morning and stretched really good and just did light sets to get the blood flowing and it hurt like a sumbitch at first but now it feels really good so I think everything will be good to go. Thanks again everybody.

I think also you may want to try some joint strengthening exercises. Since you havent exercised in a while you may want to spend 2 to 3 times a week trying to strengthen your shoulder joints. It will also really help your stability big time.

Try doing sets of 10 pushups on a medicine ball and a stabilization ball. Make sure to keep your hands together at the thumbs when doing the pushups.
