Yah, I used to use a lot more leg drive but since I'm thicker in the midsection now it's a bit harder to do get into that position. The new form makes it much more of a back movement anyways.
Both methods have merit... I might go back to more leg drive when I get leaner.
And yah the new form probably drops my strength maybe 20-30 pounds or so.
