Need some help with my conversions...is it that 100mcg of T4 is equivalent to 25mcg T3?
I have 50mcg tabs of Thyroxine (t4)...trying to get a T3 equivalent..
thanks
Yes it's generally 4:1 -
25 mcgs T3 =100 mcgs T4...
BUT it has to be converted, so make sure it is taken on a empty stomach with a full glass of water 1 hour or more before meals. Best time is to take it in the morning or middle of the night when you wake up for a break or from a dream.
T4 is more suppressive too on the thyroid, because of the longer half life-usually takes 6 -8 weeks before endos will adjust a dose of T4 but that doesn't mean it doesn't convert quickly.
T3 of course can be taken with food and at any time of the day.
