The Heavy Price

I thought Trevor Smith killed himself.

seriously tho..

how many of those guys:

-had untreated sleep apnea

-did nothing about really high blood pressure

-abused pain killers

-abused orals (like Munzer, allegedly)

-abused rec drugs

-never dropped their doses during the off season

-abused fat burners like clen (Big Kiwi (RIP), said that he used at least 400mcg of clen/day for extended periods during gaining phases, and ate bags of candy on the regular)

-used diuretics regularly (competing multiple times a year. Dillet was so loaded he went full statue onstage)

-ate shit (Palumbo claimed to pound down McDonalds like no one's business)

-had genetic disorders (like Flex Wheeler and Arnold)

-ignored warnings (Art Atwood had a heart attack but kept competing IIRC)

-stayed big after stopping competing (Nasser remained quite larger after he retired IIRC)

-walked around at 250-300+ pounds for YEARS at a time? Trevor Smith and Greg Kovacs were 400lbs... fuck yeah you're going to die if you get that big

We know that bodybuilding is a very expensive sport at the highest levels.. how often do you think these guys got checkups? how many of them spent money on support supplements? Competitions back then didn't pay shit (they still don't). Many of them charged their fans for signatures on their posters lol. you think they would spare any drug/food money on health-related stuff? unlikely.

are bodybuilding drugs the problem? or is stupidity?

but I digress

anyone who think slice is only capable of putting funny or sarcastic shit or promoting DNP all day long as ceo of dnpdoughballs.com for that matter lol :D should read this post . sterling post. well done mate.

OWNERSHIP

that's what it comes down to when it comes to health and longevity in our sport.

Many of us take the ownership ( never do insane crazy shit and last in this sport and still look great and enjoy lifting, eating and live this lifestyle while venturing into old golden ripe age and feel and look fantastic for their age and leave a great legacy and great example which we all can learn from & follow if we wish to ( RIP Serge Nubret)

some of us on the other hand do NOT take ownership & ignore signs etc and either they have to quit / forced to and have to live a miserable bitter life which eventually comes to a sad end leaving grieving families behind unfortunately ( RIP Mike Metarrazo) .

I didn't realize how many guys were so young on the death list. Wow

reminders are worth it now and again . . .

Good health makes a lot of sense, but it doesn’t make a lot of dollars.

Not everyone wants to admit it, but a lot of people get into bodybuilding to compensate for deep rooted insecurities. How many guys decide that life isn't worth living unless they're huge? Certainly this isn't the case for everyone, but when you don't have a wife or kids or much else to live for then this can be reality for some individuals.

Ok this is like the 2nd or 3rd intelligent well written non-two line smart ass responses slice so who exactly has hacked your account?

its so important to stay on top of your blood work and to have ultrasounds on your organs. to say drugs are the main cause is not right. if you don't drink and eat healthy it can help you live a more positive lifestyle. competing can cause abuse but being aware of your own health at all times is vital

Sure, we could negate the ill effects of almost anything by saying that the complexity of the world makes it impossible to narrow down the cause of something. This may be true, but it is an argument that totally discounts the mass of evidence that does suggest that high doses of AAS and AAS + HGH cause negative health issues.

Discounting these links is dangerous and provides an outlet for those less informed to continue abusing.

I am not ignoring what you brought up, just saying that it takes away from the general issue

So you're saying large amounts of drugs are bad....mmmkay...

I doubt anyone argues that at all and the post from slice takes nothing away
from that.

IMO it adds what is always seemingly missing and that is if you are running
a whole bunch of potentially bad shit....CHECK YOURSELF... regularly.

The less informed are only less informed because they choose to be and the
general issue isn't that a lot of gear can and is likely to cause problems, it is
the fact that the gear gets the blame for the resulting problems.

When, realistically you can run gear AND keep healthy if you are actively
monitoring the various systems and organs of your body through check ups,
ancillary usage and supplementation etc.

Which has been shown time and again by many successful IFBB pros at the
top of the game as well as many successful NPC competitive members
turned pro right here on this site.
