Hell yeah! I worked out in one when I was on business. I was doing some heavy benching......I grunted on the last few reps of a set and a siren and light on the wall went off! A gym employee came over to me and said "there is no grunting!". They are trying to promote a gym atmosphere where everyone "feels comfortable". Talk about being embarrassed and pissed! I will NEVER work out at a planet fitness again!

Its funny cause they say they are trying to promote a stress free work out environment but the entire time I am pushing weight around in there I am worried about being to disruptive! if it wasn't for the fact it was across the street from my work and so damned cheap I wouldn't being going there thats for sure!
Worse part is it discourages me from going heavy! I mean who wants to be kicked out of a gym for Grunting!

i didnt have to open the thread to know what gym you are talking about. they opening these places left and right around new york. that place is a joke they just opend one the next town over from me. even if you lift like a high schooler you would still hate the place. these gyms pray on bitches that like to do cardio for an hour and 1000 situps because they think they will be ripped if they do that 3 times a week 3 days in a row and eat wheat thins. then on the weekend binge drink.

everyone i know who goes there is a women who fits the description i just mentioned. they feel intimated at even normal gyms its unreal. intimidated of what? some guys doin 60lbs dumb bell curls every day who are about to throw out their backs? the hot girls that acutually know what they are doing and they are jealous? its too hard? its not like there are hot girls all over the place at the gym i go to, but all i hear is a lack of knowledge, desire and intimidation. makes me sick rewarding slackers they should give people a free dunce cap when they join. everyone spends more time reading, texting, talking its unreal.

dumb bells only go up to 60lbs, they might have one bench and a few smith machines the rest is all cardio equipment and ab equipement and the adductor machines. this is what the 4 people i know who go there said. now my 2 sisters and mom want to join. i read in muscular development that Branch Warren took a tour and he saw a leg press machine sawed so you can only put a max of 4-45lb plates on max.

people don't understand how atmosphere motivates or unmotivates people reguardless of lifting experience

Is it true they have 'pizza days' and 'tootsie roll days' where they hand members them for free after workouts on certain days in the month? I guess it is to keep them fattened up so they stay as a member for life.

i started this thread cause i was pissed that some lady was doing that green light red light shit an try to tell me that theirs other machines i could go use just cause she was doing that system.So i just waited till she passed to do my set but its not the first time ive ran into this.I should have told her she needed the machine more the me, the whey she look!but hey at least she trying lol right she probly show up for pizza night haha

just needed to know that im not the only one thats seen this place or have been there.i guess that will teach me a lesson about signing up with purple gym machines.

First ever post!

Had to post on this. I used to be a member at a planet fitness in PA. They do have bagel mondays and pizza fridays. One time after doing flat DB presses i put the weights down a little hard and right away half the staff was running over to me.

I am no longer a member but a friend of mine who still goes there said they are actually playing to take away all of the benches and squat racks. All they are leaving are the dumbbells.

I just got back from doing power cleans (not hang cleans) at the planet fitness 1.5 miles from my office. I get looks of horror, but the employees leave me alone. Interesting concept - the no judgement zone - but I must admit I did judge the guy benching 65 pounds next to me.
