I am planning for a vacation in the States, particular the West. It will probably be a 23-30 day trip, planning to cover a lot of good spot.
Do you guys have any tips? Some places that i must see?
I want to visit the following places;

- Los Angeles
- San Diego
- San Fransico
- Las Vegas
- Death Valley
- Yosemite National Park
- Grand Canyon

Now i know these are the populare places which every tourist visits.....But i also would like to go to some not so common places.

I am also considering the fact, because i am allready in the states, to start in New York for a day or three and the go to the West.
I would love to have a workout in a great gym somewhere, that would be cool too :)
Phil isnt your gym located in New York?

I would love to hear some of your ideas!!

I'd want to go to Muscle Beach, 6 Flags or another big amusement park.
Deff places to eat. Golds gym in Cali..Phil is in NY, I think upstate but I'm not sure.

Stay away from Downtown Los Angeles the traffic will kill your vacation..check out the beaches like Malibu,Zuma all the way down through Orange County Laguna Beach areas.

NIAGARA FALLS, NY

if your in NY anyway go see the falls, very cool to stand there and watch them, truly amazing how large they are...although that is WAY upstate, like a 6 hour drive from NYC.......... out west you gotta get to Vegas, just stay outta the northend, ..... don't think I would bother with L.A. though, maybe drive the Pacific Coast Highway for a bit, and go to muscle beach after.

A few years ago, late one night when the subject of travel came up,
I asked a good friend of mine who I was staying with and looking
after at the time (and who, who much like myself, had traveled
extensively) for some suggestions, places I had not visited before.

He said it would be far easier to tell me what places to avoid. So I
asked him what might they be? To which he replied . . . "the planet earth".

Now I'm not suggesting that you take his advice, but the list you provided
would easily take all the time you mention.

So, this is a tough one, or an easy one, depending upon these factors:

both ways? (23-30 day trip)

How much $$ are you allotting for the trip? Hotel - Motel, camping, fee loading, etc.?

What are you interested in? Museums, historical sites, or natural interests?

What time of the year will you be traveling?

Climate preference?

Mode of transportation?

Solo or with somebody?

I'm sure there are other questions, but please, do tell us a little more.

Well i have 30 days in total. I am not interested in Museums. But i am interested in beautiful sites. I will be traveling with my wife.
I will be traveling in October/November. I dont have any climate preference, although a nice warm climat would be great :).
Money isnt really a problem, although i dont want to spend a fortune. I probably want to spend between 7-8 thousand dollar.

Are you a travel agent for the area or somthing.:)lol
Thanks for your help. I think you have made some good choices all are places I have yet to see, but it will be awesome when I can get time. I always wanted to drive the coast road San Degio right up to Portland. My partner thinks its a crap idea driving for a hoiliday. But its the stop offs along the way that count and well the veiws when driving aswell. You have made some good choices Patrick all them places sound fun to me.:)

def NYC (BIASED) if you want tourist style shit, you have to have pizza i dont give a shit if your competing tomorrow. having NYC pizza will make you not ever eat pizza again unless your in NYC again.

Been to all but: Yosemite National Park

Which I'm traveling all the way form east coast to it this late spring before the crowds... heard so much about it.

And the videos there are amazing... love beautiful places in nature. Will definitly do some crazy hiking there as well.

^^I second that, if you have the time, hike half-dome. It's an incredible experience (if an exhausting one, lol)

If you are in the bay area, shoot me a pm, and I can tell you some places to eat and/or train

thanks guys!! Those are some great options!!! I will take that into consideration.

you should stop by Philadelphia for a day if your going to be in NYC, its a short drive for some amazing food and a TON to see.

I agree..might as well head right into Pittsburgh while you are in Pa.

Goto Iowa and see the Bridges of Madison County. LOL!!! I know it sounds boring, but my wife made us stop for that one. Kinda cool, but not NY cool. On the East Coast you have to goto Niagra Falls. Its really a spectacular place to see and hear.

Wyoming

Jackson Hole Wyoming and area are unreal for scenery and winter activities. I travel there every year from the Niagara Falls area in the winter to snowboard. Cool old west culture and not bad on the pocket book either.

Cheers
