What would you do?

When I go to the beach or pool I prefer to wear Speedos. Not the bikini type, but briefs that are called aqua shorts. See photo below (not me it is from Speedo Add):

I would like to wear some off the long board shorts but they just aren’t comfortable and they give me a terrible tan line. I have OK size legs and the longer board shorts really restrict my movement and I can’t roll them up when I tan. The Speedos on the other hand are very comfortable for tanning, swimming, and they dry fast. My physique is decent enough that I don’t think that I look like a total tool on the beach nor am I interested in attracting attention when I just want to hang out with my family, I just want to be comfortable.

Here was the situation:
On the 4th I went to the beach with my wife and 3 teenage children. We parked the car and while walking to the beach I noticed a group of 8-12 guys in their early twenties hanging out by the entrance ramp to the beach. They are all on beach cruiser bikes, skinny, tattooed, shaved heads, ball caps sideways/backwards, smoking, and drinking, etc… I noticed that they are harassing everyone and anyone that was exiting, entering, or passing by the beach. As we walk up the leader of this motley crew says to me “sir you are a very large man but those are some very small shorts” The whole group starts laughing and a very mocking manner, my wife and kids have a very embarrassed look on their face. My question to my peers on Pro Muscle is what would you have done at the moment? After I get you’re responses I will tell you what I did.

my 2 cents

the best response to a remark like that is silence. don't even make eye contact....just continue on your way as though they were invisible. it's just words, but if any of them made physical contact with you knock them out.

It sounds like a group of insecure kids that enjoy belittling others to make themselves feel better. Because you were with you family, it was probably best to ignore them. You never know about these situations. Sometimes it can make them even madder when you let this kind of crap roll off your back.

As a small child at an early age, I ended up with coke-bottle-bottom glasses and spent most of my time being harassed by other kids. I know there comes a time when you have to stand up for yourself. I hope those punks didn't cause you any trouble, and you got to enjoy your day with your family.

In my younger days...........

I would have laid a good ole fashioned Alabama ass whoopin on em! Now days you have to be very carefull who you are confrontational with. I live in the midwest and in the last 3 days 2 people have been gunned down over sense less road rage. It is a dangerous world. If i would have had my family with me i would have just ignored it. Had i been with some buddies i might have responded a bit differently....like with the previously stated ass whoopin!

Sounds like the A-hole that I am, I would have sat on the back of his bike, held him tight and given him a big thanks for noticing with a nice nipple squeeze. Then just walked away and enjoyed the rest of the day.

Just let it go. If your family felt embarrassed, then Id work more on having them accept you and themselves rather than dealing with a bunch of assholes.

And at the beach, I either wear speedo briefs or go nude. I look good enough for either, so fuck them if they dont.

With your family there, not much you can do. Kids are all wearing these swimming trunks that look practically like pants these days. So you more or less did the equivalent of wearing bell bottom jeans in 1982. So just because you are NOT a tool and go along with what everyone else does, like kids tend to do, you got singled out.

Sucks. You know it's pretty easy to shut those groups down right?

It would be very hard but with the family there I would have had to bite my lip hard and keep walking and just ignore them....That would be tough to do but acting calm cool and collected in front of your children sets a good example...

I have to agree with the keep walking say nothing reponses. You did have your family there and that makes the situation very different. On my own or with mates, my response would have been very different indeed. Probably along the lines of "Sonny, you haven't brought nearly enough homies with you, I suggest you find another sandbox to play in, so take your little bucket and shovel and run on home now".

I agree that letting it go is the right thing to do but also the hardest thing. I probably would've said something like, 'Please,please don't hurt me!' then started laughing. If that's you in your avatar I would've said, 'I think I look pretty good'.

It would be fun(at least for me) to just SLAP the living shit out of the kid only once...that would shut em up if there were only about 4 of them...BUT, sounds like there were more and on 'The 4th of July' you're looking at jail time, not to mention you're with your kids...Nothing nice either way. Maybe either keep walking and forget it...OR you could pants that kid and compare your trunks to his skinny/pale white/hairy legs

I wouldn't be ashamed but maybe next time take a better look at your audience and then decide on what's best.

Nothing with your family there, just not worth it. Children are exposed to enough on TV, etc. I am sure it was a difficult situation to say the least.

That by far would have been the best option. In front of all his boys they'd be laughing their ass off and he'd feel about a foot tall. Sounds like he was just a smartass not really looking for a real problem but I could be wrong.

Thats exactly what i would have done and then just KEEP walking, you would have put him in his place and he probably wouldn't have had any response.So you walk away and nothing else happens. I am glad I live in a really small town and don't have punks like that around when I am out with my daughter.
