I might just second this..My mothers dad was an alcoholic. Both my mom and dad were alcoholics but finally quit drinking around 55-60
yrs of age..All my mothers brothers were alcoholics and they are all dead..I'm 57 and a alcoholic and have been drinking for around 35 yrs or so..Granted I only drink twice a week and never before 4pm.Problem is when I drink I won't stop until the next day...I decided to stop drinking on the 4th of this month..Today was the first day (about 30 minutes ago) that I had the craving for a beer..I skipped it and had a protein shake..Hopefully I can keep it up. I'm pretty determined.

Note: One good thing is i have had no withdraw symptoms that I know of..No shaking or anything.

Are you seeking the help of anyone professinal or a group? They say its very hard to do on your own. I wish you the best. I have known some alcoholics and witnessed their personal battles.
IMO this list seems pretty accurate. If you notice, steroids are toward the bottom. Alcohol on the other hand is just under methadone, and smoking just under amphetamines. To me the researcher is going against society saying drugs like weed, LSD, and steroids are not as bad as alcohol and dont cause near the damage to people's lives. Kudos to this guy.

i agree with the alcohol. not only does it most often contribute to DUI's and vehicle-related deaths, seeing patients going through DT's (delerium tremens) is NOTHING nice. we have to put them in 4 point restraints (wrists and ankles) to prevent any bodily harm as well as sometimes putting them on IV Ativan drips. nasty stuff.

i also think weed should be legal (my honest opinion). i don't think the "harm" done to anyone is any greater than that of tobacco or alcohol, much less speed, crack, ecstasy....hell even overloading on opiates and prescription meds. i think the government just hasn't quite figured out how to tax weed and control cannibus growth (as in who can grow it in their closets and never pay taxes on it.)

The only thing I can see that would place LSD lower than cannabis is the fact that your rarely see someone that habitually does LSD. Its the kind of thing that people do on occasion, but you dont see guys sitting around doing it day after day. A person could not function at all if he had a daily habit of that stuff! Cannabis, on the other hand, can be habit forming and done on a daily basis. Ive seen some pretty burnt guys doing it every day.

good point, i can see why it is up there now, i too know people who smoke daily and they have all but lost their personalities. the reason i felt LSD should be placed higher is due to the fact that a single trip can alter the way you think/feel about things for the rest of your life, not necessarily physically dangerous or addicting just not good for the mind.

Speaking of benzo's, i went into hazelden little over 4years ago, I was taking 3 kinds of benzo's for panic attacks, and drinking 1.75 a day. They told me NOT to stop drinking and taking the benzos tell I get there. 2 days on a lithum drip and alcohol withdrawls were done. 2 weeks later I went into benzo withdrawls and was taking to the hospital were I stayed for 2 days. found out later hardcore benzo abuse, withdrawls can be deadly
