Who’s on telmisartan?

Was that something that developed over time or did you notice it right away? I have been dealing with some serious brain fog and fatigue myself and wondering if its the Telmisartan, but I have been on it for 5 months and really just been the past few weeks I'm really being hit by this.
Actually been dealing with it on and off for years but never thought it was the culprit until I took it out. I then did some research and found that although they didn’t test nevivolol, Metoprolol lowers T4 to T3 conversion and I already have a big problem with that, so if the same is true of Nebivolol, it makes sense why it would happen to me. It was further lowering my thyroid production. Wish I put two and two together sooner.

Zero issues with Telmisartan though.

I stopped taking 40mg of telmisartan for about 2 months. I was on it for about a year straight. Before I started I was 160/90.

While on it went to 120/80. Maybe should of not stopped but It crept back up to 140/90. Never back to 160 thou.

Probably cause I lost weight. From most the literature appears that the positives outweigh the negatives. Im back on at 40 mg this past weekend.

Telmisartan reduced dementia risk compared to other ARB’s by 30%, signaling benefits beyond just blood pressure reduction.

I also had to stop nebivolol. It was making me too tired and foggy
I’d like to stop it as well, but I feel like it’s carrying more weight than telmi is when it comes to lowering my BP. What dose were you on?

I was only using 5mg (I’d go higher in cycle), but even tried 2.5mg and still felt like a vegetable. I think it had severe negative effects on my thyroid. People with better T4 to T3 conversion than me might not have issues though. Not sure.

Did you taper off? Or just drop it?

80mg telmartan
12.5mg HCTZ
5mg nebivolol
Cialis

Worked great for a long time. I recently got 2 cortisone shots. I was warned by other members to watch my bp after cortisone. It’s been terrible lately. Just ordered carditone, hawthorn berry, and other bp herds.

I am on low dose Candesartan.

Does anyone know which is better telmisartan or candesartan?

I could easily get my Dr to switch me over, but after trying to read through the comparisons online I am extremely confused...

It is definitely a pretty common side effect from Beta-blockers to feel lethargic/foggy. Some are used off-label for anti-anxiety for that very reason (Propanolol). It is also a class of medications than can induce depression-like symptoms as well.

Going back to my post on this thread in February when I started Tela. 3 months now at 40mg keeps my BP close to 120/80 and also keeps my hemoglobin and hematocrit in check as well.
One med I’m glad to take daily.

Any negatives to taking this long term?

I am taking 80 mg of Telmisartan with 10 mg of Amplodine. 12 hours later, 5 mg of Nebivolol. If needed, I will pop a 10 mg of Lisinopril.

My BP this morning was 113/75 and heart rate of 53.

20 here but have been able to reduce it with addition of MAG Glycinate (sp?)

Thanks to the advice of some good brothers here

Thank you fellas!!!!!!

Was taking 40 mg for several years, then had the dose raised to 80, my blood pressure isn't really any better, marginal difference at best. Going to talk to my doc and going back to 40 and adding a different BP med with it

Is telmisartan known for increasing heart rate in some ? It’s the only thing I’ve changed and resting heart rate up a fair bit. Would have thought it would do the opposite

Does anyone get anxiety on Telmisartan? I’ve done some googling but haven’t found much.

My BP was getting pretty high again, up to 165 at rest. I started taking 40mg a day, and noticed my anxiety was ramped up to borderline panic attack levels throughout the day, exclusively in public and in social situations. Feelings of impending doom and constant guilt. Never have these feelings at all otherwise.
I felt great health wise and my BP lowered substantially, but stopped and all anxiety symptoms immediately went away within a day. Any explanation for this? Or has anyone ever heard of this happening?

@bbxtreme @nothuman

Telimisartan has actually been studied and used for anti-anxiety properties due to its role with the AT1 receptor.

Now real life application- I know a lot of people, including myself who can’t touch the stuff. It makes me extremely weak and tired. It’s a feeling I can’t really explain other than it zaps me and gives dull headaches.

I believe you tried it before if I remember correctly and had an adverse reaction which means you’re likely trying to block or influence a pathway that doesn’t need to be in your body (layman’s terms).

I would pull it and try Lisinopril at 10mg if it was me. In most cases where someone can’t tolerate an ARB I have found they do well on an ACE inhibitor.
