Just wanted to share a bit of my experience working with Phil Hernon over the past couple months:
When I first hired Phil I was about 4 weeks out of a show, so I really wasn’t able to implement much of his training ideas until about 5 weeks ago (after the show). Since then, I’ve been using Phil’s methods exclusively and I must say, I have NEVER gained so much strength so consistently at any point in my life. I am not a naturally strong person by any means, but every workout I either move up in weight or reps on all movements. Just to give an example, here are my first sets of squats over the last 6 weeks or so (remember I’m squatting about every 4th or 5th day):
390 x 9
405 x 7
405 x 9
425 x 7
455 x 5
455 x 7 (tonight).
These are full range, with knee wraps but no belt.
My bodyweight has been pretty stable at about 210 the last few weeks, and I actually just started a bit of a diet about a week ago. I also started LBAs this past weekend, and am expecting some good things from that. With the rate I’m progressing now, I should be squatting 495 for 6-8 by the end of the year (and making massive improvements on all other lifts too). I can only image what changes that will produce in my physique, given proper nutrition.
I should mention, I’m not using Phil’s diet currently (other than recently adding LBAs, as I mentioned). I guess I’m a bit stubborn in that aspect, and I’m doing my own offseason diet based off my experiences with Justin Harris / Troponin Nutrition.
If you’re looking to take your strength and physique to the next level, Phil is definitely the guy to hire. Best money I've spent in a while on this sport, and I really wish I had done it a lot sooner.
