Working with Phil Hernon

Just wanted to share a bit of my experience working with Phil Hernon over the past couple months:
When I first hired Phil I was about 4 weeks out of a show, so I really wasn’t able to implement much of his training ideas until about 5 weeks ago (after the show). Since then, I’ve been using Phil’s methods exclusively and I must say, I have NEVER gained so much strength so consistently at any point in my life. I am not a naturally strong person by any means, but every workout I either move up in weight or reps on all movements. Just to give an example, here are my first sets of squats over the last 6 weeks or so (remember I’m squatting about every 4th or 5th day):
390 x 9
405 x 7
405 x 9
425 x 7
455 x 5
455 x 7 (tonight).

These are full range, with knee wraps but no belt.

My bodyweight has been pretty stable at about 210 the last few weeks, and I actually just started a bit of a diet about a week ago. I also started LBAs this past weekend, and am expecting some good things from that. With the rate I’m progressing now, I should be squatting 495 for 6-8 by the end of the year (and making massive improvements on all other lifts too). I can only image what changes that will produce in my physique, given proper nutrition.
I should mention, I’m not using Phil’s diet currently (other than recently adding LBAs, as I mentioned). I guess I’m a bit stubborn in that aspect, and I’m doing my own offseason diet based off my experiences with Justin Harris / Troponin Nutrition.

If you’re looking to take your strength and physique to the next level, Phil is definitely the guy to hire. Best money I've spent in a while on this sport, and I really wish I had done it a lot sooner.

After three weeks on Phil's program, not a WORD of a lie, for the past four weeks straight, I have added ten pounds to my bench press on a WEEKLY basis. I hope this trend continues for several more weeks! Before this, I had been plateaued on my bench press for about two months straight.

Forgot to mention, bent over rows has also been increasing by ten pounds per week for the past two weeks.

I've also been training under Phil for approx 2 1/2 - 3 months now.
In this time i have pretty much become a new person to look at, my body weight has hardly changed but my physique has taken on some huge changes, i follow Phils advice to the T, with training and nutrition and supplements (love the LBA's), i am currently 7 weeks out from competing and looking the best i ever have, im still gaining strength everytime i lift, i really can't thank Phil enough, best money i ever spent, i recommend anyone who wants to make improvements in thier physique contact phil.

THANK YOU

BUT I AM NOT THE ONE UNDER ALL OF THAT WEIGHT!!! NOT EVERYONE HAS YOUR POTENTIAL S. I AM THRILLED THAT YOU ARE MAKING THESE GAINS BUT I EXPECT NOTHING LESS. YOU SHOULD EXPECT THIS.

I just started with him about 2 weeks ago. I started just after getting off cycle. I am following everything he has advised, including diet. The cycle I had been running was a bulker and I was eating 6200 fairly clean calories. In the past 2 weeks I have shed 24 pounds and lost a little over 1 inch off my waist. All of my lifts have gone up while losing this weight too. I am up about 10 pounds on bench, 20 pounds on squat, 20 pounds on bentover rows. This past week I squated 425 for 6, and did bentover rows with 355 for 6 reps. Doing great and looking forward to more!

BIG bump for Phil's training!!!

Phil's da MAN!!

your brother in Christ,

Lucky

IF YOU EVER PLATEAU ON THIS ROUTINE, I HAVE SOMETHING EXTRA SPECIAL FOR YOU BUT YOU NEED TO MILK THIS ONE FOR ALL IT IS WORTH OK?

I have been working with Philthy since April and it has been a pleasure. He changed my whole mindset about dieting and it’s helped me immensely. I really can’t say enough good things about this man; I have gone from a fat 228 to a pretty lean 205 in that time and just totally revamped my image. I actually "look" like a bber. I can’t get enough of the LBA's either. Big Bump for Phil

Phil is a professional through and through. His advice is on the money. I guess the fact that he is a nice guy is a bit of bonus huh?? :p :) . He is a pleasure to do business with. Good work Phil and Thank You!

Phil really knows his stuff, it is an honor to have someone of his caliber offer his services to us mere mortals. Honestly Phil, you really give back a lot to the sport and it is a pleasure to know you.

Sounds good, buddy. I have a feeling this is going to be a very productive offseason :D

BUMP!!!

I am just starting to go into my second month with him, and am very pleased. I'm currently dieting, and really don't feel like I am although the scale shows otherwise. And I am really enjoying the training routine he has me on.

Plus he is very easy to understand, and breaks it down for you.

Oh...and he answers e-mails faster than anyone I have ever seen! :)

Thats quite impressive Shelby. I thought you said you weren't that strong. Looks pretty strong to me.

Gotta jump on the bandwagon here...

Phil's helped me tremendously over the past year. It's funny, you try to go it alone or use the advice of someone you trust and think you've got it all figured out, then someone simplifies it for you down to a literal science and wham, everything just happens.

Phil KNOWS HIS STUFF. I found out about him through reading alot of DC's material and did some research, which eventually led me to this board. And using Phil's services has really bumped everything up proportionately in terms of muscle and strength.

USE THE MAN! He's worth it...

I've been working with Phil for a couple months now - here are some pics I took tonight after training back and biceps. I can already notice improvements, especially in my thighs and delts.
