those are classic "kip" chins, ala Marine Corps. style...I only got 33 in boot camp this way
now days I lean back as far as possible and hit nipple line chest to bar, much better for results

2nd battalion, hotel company, parris island 1991! we used the kip as well.
those pullups are crap. why bother
