Am i right in saying, that on a bulk oats are a much better choice than maltodextrin or waxy maize as the gi is better..and oats have fibre and protein along with vitamins and minerals of which malto and waxy maize dont have.

thats why they would be better. over the years of training and dieting i have found GI is kinda bullshit.
long as your macro's are right you are good to go. fruit, white rice whatever, it won't keep you from getting lean. in fact i love fruit in my diet.

yeah i completely agree.
thats why most of my carbs come from fruit. couple days a week i will have starchy carbs and i choose white rice usually. i love the stuff.

i'd agree that Oats are generally better nutritionally, although I prefer fruit (less bloat). But I stay on the low side with carbs...
On the other hand I have heard from others who use slin and boatload carbs, that VM and malto claer faster then say oats... So it would depend on your goals I guess.
Totally agree.. Whole foods are always the best choice.. Try steel cut oats for a nice change.. I also soak my oats overnight in water to lower phytic acid content and to make them nice and soft.. After they soak, rinse them off and then add appropriate water to cook or use them "as is" in a shake..
