Baking gear on a gas cook top

I need to bake some gear but don't have an oven suggestions for doing it on a gas cook top.

I suggest you filter it instead. Anything that heat will eliminate (i.e. live microorganisms) filtering will also eliminate. Filtering will also remove some of the fragments of dead microorganisms (which are pyrogenic). Purchase the 0.2 Whatman filters from one of the boards sponsors (sterilesyringes.com) and filter it into new sterile vials (which you can buy from many places online).

You risk destroying your gear by baking it (if you are inexperienced with the process) and doing it on your stovetop sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

filter it

if you still have concerns:

boil some water, add salt to the water to raise its boiling point
if properly capped they should be waterproof, drop them into the water and boil for 20-40 minutes
this will kill anything living that may be in them (i say living cause contaminants are not alive and dont 'die') - thats what the filter is for
the filter also removes bacteria as they are physically too large to pass through it
