I am 40yso, 6'0", 195lbs. I am training to compete in the Phil Heath Classic in March 15, 2014, make physique division. I would love to hear from some guys who compete in this division. If you respond to this thread we can go from there.

I am currently using Layne Norton's cutting diet plan which had me consuming 1.5lbs of protein per pound of body weight, 21-24% fat and the remainder of my calories goes to carbs. I eat egg whites with a couple whole eggs, oatmeal, chicken breasts, salmon, mixed veggies, yams, dates, almonds, rice, lentils and whey protein. I am at a600 calorie deficit from baseline. Supplements are a multi vitamin, digestive enzymes, glutamine and gaspari size on for intraworkout.

Would love to hear some tips from guys who have been there. Your response is greatly appreciated in advance.
 
Would be good for the experience either way. Not sure if youd place.
 
If you are 195b now how much do you think you'll weigh onstage??? I'm currently 215lb and plan on competing in Mens Physique as well..... i still think when i chisel down i'll be too small...... Physique guys compete at 200+ nowadays..
 
Don't compete, but follow it closely and know many that do.

Just focus on bringing up your chest and you should do very well, definitely looks on track for about 12 weeks out.

The taller guys are 200 but shorter guys are closer to 180 or smaller.
 
worse case scenario you probably wind up in the best shape of your life
 
Last show I attended, they had so many entries in the Physique division that they had to separate them by height .

Under 5'9"
5'9'- 6'
Over 6'

Heard that they will switch from board shorts to compression shorts on 1/1/14. Is this for both NPC and IFBB?
Glad this change is being made....we'll see who works legs and who doesn't !! ;)
 
Your stomach looks great but you need more muscle in your chest, arms and shoulders. And start shaving your upper body now so you wont be all broken out and red bumps, let your body get use to it. I plan to compete this year and im sitting at 6' tall and 225lbs. Ill be around 200lbs at 5% which is right where you need to be. I have pics posted in the Judges Critique section on the first page mid way down. Go check them out.
 
I say go for it, even if you don't place it will be a good experience

This if nothing else.

Abs look good, but like Toxic said, upper body needs some work. your traps look flat bro.

do the show, dont let anyone discourage you. You will learn TONS from it. Everyone who has competed startd somewhere. good luck

I agree 100%.....For his height (same as mine) 200lbs shredded is where you need to be.
