Well Damn. Found out a few days ago that what I thought was just a bad sprain was actually a crack in my left fibula. About 4 inches below knee. Lucky it didn't seem to get into knee (doc doing MRI to make sure it didn't get into ACL. May have also torn some ligaments, but I'm hobbling around pretty good. (Worked out for another 45 minutes after the apparant break).
Doc says probably about 3 -4 months before I can go back to Jiu Jitsu or Karate (or anything with legs except swimming). I plan to do some pretty steady upper body stuff over this time period.
Some of you guys may remember I am the REAL old fart around here. Just turned 67. Still got 16" + bi's, 32 inch waist, 205 lbs, 6 feet tall, about 12% bf, everything proportionate. Not much compared to some of the huge dudes we have around here, but you won't find many 67 year old American males that can bench 220, etc. (And still teach Karate and train in Jiu Jitsu).
Couple of questions. Will continuing on a mild cycle while recovering help recovery? Or is it a bad idea? Also, as long as I am careful, I don't see much downside to the upper body work - any thoughts about this?
