What are peoples opinions on these?

Never really done them before, it seems some people rate them and some dont.

if you do a search on here you will find they are highly recommended

great exercise

They are a great exercise , takes alot of stress off your shoulders.

I wish my gym had a better decline bech , our is made for a fucking midget

I think its of one of the best movements for chest :) It really takes out shoulders out of the question especially if you do it the way phil recomends .

Yes...

If you do a search, I think you'll find pretty much all your answers, this is just one of those subjects that has A LOT of information on it here :)

This movement seems to put a lot of stress on my collarbone. Anyone have an idea why?

i love the smith machine decline at my gym...best kept secret. nobody is ever on it :D

lol.

I have heard that just one pressing exercise is all Phil Advocates for chest training!
If thats the case can this be done twice a week?

i try and hit it twice a week, especially since my chest is not my greatest feature.

ah ok...anyone else know about phils training?

So would chest day just be...warm up.

Decline Bench 15reps
Decline bench 10 Reps
Decline Bench 5reps

Then Heavy flys in same rep range and thats it?

Will only take like 20mins or so.

I love declines

you can usually lift more weight in decline and really overload the muscles.

i feel that i get a better contraction also

a few studies have shown that declines also activate more upper chest muscles then incline bench actually!

so yep. love em

There is only so much info one can give about Phil's routine...
1) It's not the same for everyone, different people, different goals... different routines. There are similarities in all the programs, but he "tweaks" them accordingly... but those "tweaks" = big differences.

2) They paid a price for that knowledge... BUT, a small price... really, just sign up with him for a year, you won't regret it at all, VERY affordable and you get A LOT more than what you pay for

if you can pay monthly ill deffo do it...being a skint student i cant outlay the money at once.

I actually only do inclines and declines. The only time I ever do flat bench is if its with db's or on a hs press. Just for pump.

i know its very cheap!

cos your doing compound and no isolation though..how do you develop like rear delts, side delts..etc

I've always been a firm believer in the flat bench for size and strength.
Even got into arguments over it till I injured my shoulders (both).
Got to the point where I just couldn't do them anymore. So with no choice
started doing the declines and haven't looked back. No more shoulder pain
and better development in the chest. All these years wasted :banghead:

Wow! great find. Looking to make some changes on chest.. Haven't done decline's in Yrs.. use cables. Actually heard hard on Shoulder joints.. But seems most agree that it's the opposite.. I will DEF try into the mix on next chest wkout.. Tks...

Declines

I will throw them in a workout every now & then just for a nice change. But they are not in my weekly chest routine.
