If I can't get enough reps on parellel bar dips, is there anyway to do them like use a bench with legs out to help get up and focus on the negative? I used to do that with chins until they became really easy. I'm not a newbie but have always been weak with my "push" muscles and I think dips may improve them, I have not done them in a long long time and have put on a lot of weight since I have done them last. Thanks in advance.

how low is too low for reps for you, i believe most people can get at least 5 reps down and do 5 sets of 5 or u can go the negative route u described

im sure you can at least lower your bodyweight if not more, do slow negatives

use 3 chairs depending on your weight, 1 for your feet support the other 2 for your arms, it takes alot of the weight out of a dip and you can work on form more, really dig into the tricep, but i am sure it won't be long before you can dip you weight.

My gym has an assisted dip/chinup machine that came in VERY handy when I was developing my back and couldn't even do a single chinup. I've seen them at other gyms I've been to as well, so there may be one in your area that has it.

I'll try out using a bench and doing sets of 5reps and focus more on the negatives, that should work and help out. I'll let you guys know what I figure out.

Blitzkrieg, I wish I had access to those machines, my gym doesn't have it, I've used it before and it is very helpful. I feel chins, dips, pull ups,etc are some of the best movments out there that should be included as much as possible.

I know you're asking about dips, but here's a way to do assisted chins / pullups without a machine:

I know Arnold used to have that problem early in his career. He wrote that he would do as many reps as he could do, rest 20 secs and then do as many more reps as he could do. He would continue like that until he hit at least 10 reps. That would be one set, kinda like rest-pause reps. I tried that when I first started chins and couldnt do 10 reps, within 3 weeks or so I was hitting 10 reps.
