right now im takin in 30g iso, 35g waxymaize, 2g beta alanine and 5g creatine. I still think this is pretty solid. Also PWO im takin in a custom mix from TP that equals about 55g iso, 70g WMS, then the mix of 10% luecine and 5% creatine. I also add in another 2g beta alanine in PWO shake (i dont get that weird feeling from bet alanine like i hear some people do)

I guess critique this if you guys see somethin way off, but my main question is should i skip my preworkout shake, eat a whole meal like an hrish b4 my workout and just sip on maybe BCAA boost from TP and add in some creatine and beta alanine? Would it be beneficial to add in this 'during' mix with what i already have, or would it be overkill do you think?

BTW, my last whole meal is usually about 2 hrs before my workout....

I used to eat right before the gym but I think that caused my gut and umbilical hernia, something liquid like your doing is working better for me now, it digests faster and doesn't slow me down at the gym like whole food did. PWO I do about the same as you from TP as well and it's been working fine, then I eat a meal about 45 minutes later.

yea actually i used to eat a whole meal closer to workouts and i actually threw it up (im not talkin water spitup which happens, but real vomit) doin deadlifts :/ From then on i switched to shakes about 40 mins pre WO. I guess my question was do you think something like the BCAA blast DURING workout would be beneficial/worth it or are the two shakes (pre and post) enough? I use a high quality whey iso from TP for both pre and post workout...

I don't think you NEED it since your doing pre and post,... BUT added BCAAs can only help.

Yea thats what i was thinking, especially cause i usually do cardio after weights because of my schedule....i think ima try it out....its cheap anyway :D
 
If you're going to add BCAAs, look into TPs 4:1:1 or just add whey..whey has all the BCAAs you need in it.
 
I don't have any shake or anything pre-workout.. I'll just load up on carbs for energy, then have a protein shake afterward.. I'm not 1 to critique or anything, but it seems like you're thinking too deep into this, making it complicated with all those ingredients and whatnot..

Agreed. Also, lucky that you don't get that feeling on beta alanine.. I remember getting extremely itchy from that stuff - so annoying!!
 
i used to worry a lot about pre- and postworkout nutrition. But since i just eat whole foods, and no more shakes, i just feel better and dont notice anything different in the mirror. so in my opinion pre- and postworkout is something really overstated and something the supplementcompany's clearly hyped....

As for the beta-alanine, you're not feeling anything IMO cause you're mixing it with protein powder. Take it with carbs only and you should feel the itching... :eek:

I use evoo in my shakes and as far as absorption you may have something there, I once took a niacin 100mgs to "test" my absorption and felt the flush within about ten minutes so assumed it was fine. YOU may want to try that Shawn.
 
You need to be careful how much you add to your Waxy. Justin Harris as well as others who are "in the know" on Waxy, mention to try to minimize what you add to waxy to aid in the rate of absorption and flow. Some BCAAs and creatine is fine...adding ISO might be a bit much.

This might be more relevant in your PWO as opposed to your Pre.

Well with the diet im doin now the only meals i dont have fat with is my pre and post workout, so as not to slow the digestion. I try to get 3 TBS of EVOO in a day (although sometimes is say F it after i already get my 2 in and opt for delicious natty PB instead at night :D). I supp fish oils with each meal too, and use omega 3 eggs. I probably take in about 70-80g fat on a normal day, but i do a carb type cycle diet and on my high days i drop the fat way lower, usually 2 TBS EVOO and thats pretty much it.

I know the phil guys wont dig this type of diet, but im just messin around with different types right now. I seem to get fat when i dont cycle the carbs.... I did, just last week start ditchin most of my grains for fruit though. I actually DO feel better....but fruit is definatly not as delicious to me as oats and cinnimon :D Gotta do what ya gotta do though i guess...

P.s.- as far as the beta alanine, i got my first case of 'what the hell, did i just get sunburned or fall into some insulation?!' feeling at school last night. I think your right JC. My protein shakes may have been masking it because i took it later at night and that feeling hit me almost instantly. Very uncomfortable...

Ive never used glycerol before. Im gonna check back through some old posts and read up on it....
