Extreme Calorie Deficit and Fat loss

I dont plan on doing this, just want to know for my own curiosity.

Lets say you were on cycle, using the usual Test and Deca stack. You then cut calories to an extreme level. Only taking in 1200-1500 per day.

You kept training and did everything as usual just had a very low calorie intake.

Would you lose a great deal of muscle? Or, would the AAS be enough to prevent muscle loss?

This is all hypothetical, dont plan on running. Just curious.

if you reverse the sitaution, you'd find the answer is very clear...
if you started eating 7000 calories right off the bat with a deca/test cycle... would you gain a great deal of muscle due to the anabolics, or gain a lot of fat?

the answer would be, gain a tremendous amount of fat...

if you do the oposite, you'd lose a tremendous amount of muscle... even with anabolics, your body has to compensate for those lost calories... it can only burn fat to certain degree to meet the deficit, after that it'll turn to burning muscle.

I have no "scientific" data about this... but, this is what i see in real life.

You would not lose muscle if you did frequent refeeds, this is what scott abel's cycle diet is based upon and it certainly works without drugs too.

This whole 'you'll lose muscle at the speed of sound' crap is just one of the ridicilous bodybuilding myths.

Aas long as your training is constructive or at least not destructive and you arent engaging in useless hours on a threadmill, NO PROBLEM

Now hopefully phil will say something here since I recall him being a proponent of less eating instead of more moving too

Thanks guys

Bump for more answers

Im just curious as to what would happen. I know Deca is not used for fat loss,, per say but I just thought of 2 strong anabolics, Test and Deca. Something that would aid in holdiing onto muscle.

I mean alot Hollywod actors have eating disorders and such. They lose alot of weigtht, we have all seen the pics. BUt I was just curious if you put your body in a really low calorie deficit but were taking AAS, would you lose mostly fat and just a little muscle?

I know this is not safe, its hypothetical. Just curious if you could lose a pretty good amount of fat and still only lose a little muscle if you did things this way.

I would say if you keep your protein intake high enough you should not lose muscle mass.

Everyone is different to an extent.
What I would do is slowly drop down the calories and experiment.

The body can always convert protein into carbs if need be, so make sure if the calories are low, that you are consuming enough protein to maintain your muscle mass and extra for Gluconeogenesis.

The first couple of days you shouldnt lose any muscle. you will have glycogen stores to prevent muscle loss.

once glycogen is gone, if you dont eat any carbs, then your glucose demands would come from glucoegensis(sp?)..which would first come from ingested protein, and then once that ran out, would come from body protein.

You've got it somewhat correct... If protein is the only thing you are ingesting than protein will be converted via gluceogenises. You're body actually uses fat when glucose has run out. Fat is fat and the reason it is stored is for emergency purposes. When you are in a low calorie state fat will be used as fuel if there is not enough to meet your body's requirements... If you lift or exercise the demand is greater than a person who is sedentary. But your body will not go directly for the muscle, or body protein.
Your body also has another mechanism to slow down muscle and fatloss wasting by almost slowing down your body, making you less efficient and only supplying energy to what is absolutely necessary.

As an experiment, I tried a month of cutting using Dbol and Var and daily cardio on about 1800 cals/day, mostly protein. I shed fat in a hurry, and actually gained a bit of size on my thighs from 30 days of using my eliptical machine. At the start I was about 30 pounds too fat, and my body did a great job of using my bodyfat to fuel the workouts while building a bit of muscle.

I did this after being off AAS for a few months, so I was fresh. Currently I am bulking, but I actually plan on trying an extreme cutting diet/cycle for the summer. I might even push as low as 1500 cals/day with cardio on Tren and Var. I think it could work very well with little or no muscle loss.

I dont think 1800 is too low. However, there does come a point where the body slows down it metabolism in order to conserve energy... At that point you must either increase cardio or drop more calories.
I do believe for a set point in an initial diet 1800 is too extreme, because after you stall you have to do one of the following mentioned above.

Thats a very good point. I gone as low as 2000 cals and burned ~400-500 cals in the gym each day when I was cutting hard. I did lose quite a bit of fat at the expense of losing some muscle too. When I hit my bf goal, I try to slowly increase calories throughout the weeks to increase metabolism, but ended up gaining the weight back and was back where I started.

The biggest challenge of this extremely dieting practice is how to reset your metabolism and introduce calories back into diet once you hit your goals, without gaining the fat back.

I plan to use T4 and GH, which will really help the fat loss. I've been using these while bulking and I'm still slowly losing fat while gaining the most muscle I ever have before.
