Fish MOX (Amoxicillin for fish and cats)

Hey everyone. Anybody know anything about this stuff. I was in the pet store the otherday getting food for my dog and was walking down the Fish Supply isle and saw a bottle out of the corner of my eye that said FISH MOX (Amoxicillin for fish) It comes in a bottle of 100 250mg tabs or caps.

Does anyone know if humans can take this. It said it could be used for cats that have upper respiratory infections. For the Fish usage it said you just put a tablet in the tank.

Bottle says that it is a Standard pharmacy quality Amoxicillin antibiotic

You do not need a prescription for it. On the bottle i think it said not for human use but I just figure that amoxicilling is AMOXICILLIN and those are the only ingredients in the product so im assuming it would work?

Can anyone shed some light on this. Thanks

i didnt know you could tell if your fish was even sick all mine do is swim eat move there mouth and fins. and shit like crazy they will have 8 incher hanging.
amox should be easy to get for your self why take fish meds.

Haha yea i dont even have fish but i think sometimes they can have like bulging eyes or have some kind of mold or growth coming from their fins or something. I mean im not Aquariumologist but i think thats it. Yea your right Amox is pretty easy to get a hold of but it just sort of struck me in surprise that you could get it in a pet store ya know.

Why surprising?Who's gonna pay for a Vet to make a house call for a bunch of goldfish? And like it says on the label ;not for human consumption.
There's lots of things you can buy if you know where,that you shouldnt be able too.
Take it,maybe you'll grow gills

If you are unable to afford going to the doctor and you KNOW you have an infection, buy a bottle. It'll save you huge.

I get ear infections about twice a year. I know right away what they are. My old doctor used to write me a blank Rx for Amox until he retired. I didn't have health care for 3 years at one point. I had an ear infection so bad, I could barely get out of bed. I ordered Fish Mox... took my old dose... and a day later, the symptoms were gone.

If you actually weigh the contents of the capsule, it's 100% amoxicillin. It works for me. I'll probably grab another bottle next time I see one.

Does it have clavulanate in it as well? Just google the ingredients to be safe. It is basically Penicillin.
What was the name of the pet store you saw it in?
I was looking for some for my cat, who has a upper respiratory tract infection.
Also known as Augmentin.

Alright guess ill have to pick some up. I was looking around and i think that some brands have different ingredients. The one that i saw had just amoxicillin in it at 250mg. I was at a mom and pop pet store but im going to take a gander down to petsmart etc and see what they have there.
Gotta pick some up as a plan B
