Hepatitus C

I was telling a friend of mine (a 50 someodd year old ex powerlifter) about the new trend of homebrew injectables. I was also telling him how some suppliers from other countries can send it to you already made.

He then asked me a question which I hadn't really given all that much thought to. He asked if I was worried about using a product that might be contaminated with Hep C?

Dave_19, I know you are a trained body piercer and all, so maybe you can answer this: Will baking the product kill viruses (like HCV) in the oil?

Is this a risk that anyone else has given thought to?

most labs are prety good quailty, and use sterile conditions/ atmosphere. wouldnt the BA in the product help keep viruses from being present. how would hep C get into the gear?

see, I'm not real sure... A home chemist could use good conditions, but I don't think they are medically sterile conditions...

As far as how the Hep C could get into the oil, what if he uses a contaminated piece of equipment...

I think BA would kill bacteria in the oil, but would it kill a virus? Could a virus even live in oil?

Hopefully someone in the medical profession will tell me I'm off my rocker for worrying about this...

The commercial/professional labs, as spok stated, should be no problem - I believe they autoclave most stuff. This would be like asking the nurse before she injects you - will I get Hep C from this injection.

Sterile filtering and baking will get MOST harmful bacteria out of solution (not 100% - but those that are harmful). BA will prevent bacteria growth in solution but does not sterilize it.
