How do you cope with sickness?

I had pneumonia...they talk about the flu...but pneumonia is no joke. I still went in and did cardio, slept alot, fruit, even had to take antibiotics. Skipped the weights but light cardio helped
You're right. My fever was so high, when it dropped to just 101 F, relatively speaking, I felt like I could run a marathon.
 
Very interesting. Both my son and I came down with a fever, a headache, and some coughing. That was the 15th of Feb. He's pretty close to 100 %. Myself ... not so much lol. Still a bit feverish. But it only seems to come at night.

Am not a doctor, but I just try to rest as much as I can, coupled with tons of water and a " moderate " amount of vitamins to help support the immune system.

I've been able to eat ... though I will not lie, I have force fed myself a couple of times. I don't like NOT hitting my numbers.

Best of luck to those of you that are sick. I'm right there with you.
 
so i did my first session today after being back to i would say 85% health.
but god i should not have opened the logbook today and see what my last lifts on push day were.
i had very bad appetite from friday on until yesterday so i am probably quite carb depleted..
 
so still not back to 100% but getting some work in is good for my mental health.
Heart rate recovery after training and the feeling of extreme exhaustion shows me that there is still something inside that my body is fighting.
it really sucks after the time from november - 20 of january was extremely productive but since the 20th of january time had more downs than ups...
makes me fucking sad
 
When I get sick, I do a workout at home. Coughing, spewing, is not something I want to do in public nor do I want to infect others.

Everyone should have some sort of equipment in their house. I should have billed my buddies during covid!
 
Unless I am truly dying with something like bronchitis, I still go to the gym but stop doing cardio. So basically nothing changes.

I hear you on that. All 3 of my kids have had the stomach bug along with a nasty cold that just won’t go away. I’ve had this cold for going on two weeks now. I normally can kick a cold in 5-7 days.
 
Except covid wich lasted 3 days , i havent been sick maybe since highschool

Worse than Lyme Disease (acute so just in/out) and hoping recovery is faster as that was a few months.

Probably 80% now. Lost a good 15lbs (fat and muscle sadly though I've leaned up decently) even with Hagen Daas pints thrown in. Eating is back but haven't gained any weight so guessing calorie needs are still up and body is running harder. Respiratory rate at night was up 15-20% from the pneumonia. That seems to be recovering but half way at this point.

Home gym so got some lifts in. Still working back from torn pec. I'll live but as I get better looking forward to increasing from my cruise dose and getting back to normal.
 
Anyone got a good "I am sick" protocol?

You go to vitamins/supplements that you believe helps you turn the corner?

I usually greatly increase Vit C/D/K, pound electrolyte drinks and I have a sauna blanket that I ensure I get into daily. (unless a fever, then fuck that!)

Today i ate some of those small mixed haribo packs.. the last time i had sweets was probably 3 years ago..
im also lifting a bit in my homegym (powerrack, olympic bar, weights, dumbbells, bands etc.) but im still not myself.
I feel "off", get no pump, have no power etc.
life sucks right now.. :-|
i began injecting l-glutathion again (got a new shipment) and will probbaly do 1x 600mg eod now

I almost NEVER lose appetite for sickness. It often increases. This one killed it first day and I was force feeding. No idea what amount I was burning off but FAR above maintenance. Still seems to be above right now but holding steady at least.

When guys get sick like this with a deep virus or infection I generally always suggest a mini cut.

You won’t be doing your body any favors by trying to force feed while sick. It’s an easy way to assist your body with cleaning up the inflammation.

For the average person I would have them do a PSMF diet. If you’re not active and in the gym the body will have little use for excess carbs.

I wouldn’t sweat it too much. Most of that was likely glycogen and water. I went through this end of August last year and the lingering aftermath is the worst part.

I say this with 100% sincerity - if simply getting sick with a run-of-the-mill virus gives you this much mental anguish then you need to look into therapy. Being sick and having a few days out of the gym isn't a big deal. Catch up on reading, your favorite TV shows, get some extra sleep in. It's not a big deal.

its not a few days im talking about. since 20th of january it is an up and down with way more downs than ups.
and we both know you would also break a sweat and it would give you issues. You are fighting since months for every kilogram/pound on the scale. You are proud of every single pound you have worked hard for.

I know what you are saying but this was beyond. Like running big DNP first few days. All water and glycogen out instantly - reserves gone - and that 15lbs is after water and glyc was added back. Crazy this time. Never seen this. Calories were just to attempt a floor in or slow it down given obvious huge burn rate as this was weeks (ice cream was nice on throat too). I'm generally low carb anyway and I've cut on cold too so I agree and totally get what you are saying most times. This thing was a rather unique whore of a virus.
