Adding ice to you favorit shakes or drinking ice cold water after eating is not a good ide. Why? becouse are stomach enzymes are influenced by temperature and pH, and guess what is the optimal temperatures for mammalian enzymes? the ideal body temoerature is 86-113 degrees Fahrenheit.
So what happens when you add ice to your food. The stomach enzymes react to the cold temperature and become sluggish and unresponsive.
This dramatically slows down the digestive process and the body expends additional energy trying to break down food. This can lead to fatigue/sleepiness, bloating, stomach discomfort, belching and gas.
You can avoid this by instade of refrigerating or icing your food, leave it out and consume at room temperature.
Enzymes are biological catalyst and enormously speed up cell reactions.
And in this situation,we`re talking about speeding up digetive process without expending additional energy.
