I'm in search of a Protein Bar that doesn't contain any glycerine (or gelatin). The only thing that I've found so far are Factions Bars, sold through Protein Factory **broken link removed** . Has anybody tried these?

They have 25g of carbs but only 1g of Sugar. If you calculate in the Glycerine into carb count of protein bars, it ends up being at least 25g.

Anyone find any other glycerine-free protein bars?

I was told glycerine was a "sugar alcohol" but according to that article it's not?!?

Thanks EngiCream - that reinforces my original concerns. The article I linked and others I found were all located at sites that "sold" products that contained glycerin. Wouldn't make sense for them to publish anything negative about products they sell.

Xcel...

Are you worried about being kicked out of ketosis?...

I take it you're looking for a *low-carb* glycerol-free protein bar? Or do you simply want a protein bar w/o glycerol, but that might have carbs?...

Ideally I'd like to find a *low-carb* glycerol-free protein bar but I highly doubt that one exists. ALL protein bars have carbs (one form or another). I believe that without any, they'd taste like dirt clods.

I'm not looking to use one now (of course), but for off-season.

Every try

mixing egg whites w/ a few yolks along w/ protein powder?... Makes a nice thin pancake that can be sweetened w/ artifi. sweeteners.

As far as off-season, why not have some carbs in the bar?

I like PowerBar ProteinPlus bars - sugar source is rice syrup, so you at least know its glucose (for replenishing glycogen), not fructose.

I have never had a problem getting kicked out of Ketosis by any of the "low carb" bars out there containing glycerine/glycerol. Never changed the ketostix I was using out of purple as well as not registering a significant rise on my blood glucose tester.

Also Animal could explain this more as he told me about it years ago...

glycerol is something that is always being broken gown by ur body while in a ketogenic states, its a natural by product of fat metabolsim, it has hardly any glycemic issues, it is technically an alcohol, but that does not mean what u r implying it means, it has a purpose and its effects on blood sugar are so marginal
