negitive sides to sugar alcohols?

I know sugar alcohol doesn't count as sugar but as a carb. Im just wondering how harmfull it actually is when trying to diet or lean out. I like a lot of sugar free candy or gum when dieting to help cravings of sugar.

Perfectly fine until about 2weeks out from a show.
 
um no...

I spent time in a ER cause I took too much. At certain amts it can become a laxative and a diuretic. Spent 11 hrs peeing out of #1 and #2 my temp went up to 103 deg and had to go to ER and get potass and sodium chloride put in IV. So be very careful not to take too much. Glycerol binds to a water molecule very easlily and this is how is excreted.

Yeah, beware of too much sugar alcholols. I've talked to several diabetics that had trouble, especially with excessive candy use...
 
I ate a couple boxes of sugar free mentos the other day I definitly spent much time on the toilet after. I have noticed it to have a laxative effect.
 
i'm pretty sure Malitol (a sugar alc) acts as a laxative and is pretty concentrated in alot of the sugar free candies etc... Manitol i think is a bit safer in some of them..

i used to rely on them, cut them out of diet though completley.... isn't it still stored in the liver as glycogen then later released anyway?
