O/T Ever ridden a Segway?

My friend just bought two Segways for his wife's birthday and brought them by the office. They have the "off road" package for riding trails at their horse farm.

First time I've ever ridden one. Pretty shaky at first but then unbelievable. We set up small ramps etc to jump. Very impressive technology. I think its governered down to like 12.5 mph but still seems like your moving pretty well.

I hate to say it, but I enjoyed that movie. The Segway stuff was pretty funny. I definately thought about it as I was riding.

My wife works at a hospital and the "smoking patrol" use Segways to chase the smokers away from the area since its a no smoking zone. They work great for that, up and down the sidewalks, through the grass and down the street. you can run but you can't hide

Those people would be right by the front door, puffing away while the ambulance brings the sick in if you let them. I'm thinking it would be a fun job, but i would want a stun gun too

I've been fortunate enough to take segway tour at Walt Disney World. They offer it at the Fort Winderness Resort. Its actually pretty awesome. First they give you a "drivers ed" on it, and have you do a road course through cones and figure 8's, make sure you can stop and get off of it. When thats over, they take you through the scenic trails, through the lakes around the park, its pretty awesome. They only have it once a day, and only about 10 people at a time, so you gotta make reservation pretty far ahead, but totally worth it. They're the off road package ones, with brush guards around the sides, and govered at 12 mph. If any of you guys ever get a chance, you gotta try a segway, they look lame but turn out kinds fun.......like a moped.....just kiddin haha

I took a tour up in the moutains of NC on 'offroad' Segways with my family a year or two ago. It was really fun, I wish I had more of a use for one of those because they are a blast to ride.

New expect to spend $5-7k depending on model. You can find used ones on eBay or Craig's List for between $2500-3500.

Yes,,,I've rode one a few times. Incredible fun. New though,,,too expensive for any real practical use. Around the office,,work place would be great.

Bro, where did you ride those in the NC mountians? I have lived here all my life and never even seen that advertised. Im headed that way if they still have it here.

It was in Cashiers, NC. It about 20 miles from Cullowhee, where Western Carolina University is. I don't know if the lady is still doing them though, I believe she had to close her business due to personal issues.

There were two dealers here in Atlanta. I think he paid $5300 a piece with the off road package which cost a little more. Both dealers claimed that the price was $300 above cost.
