Post-workout nutriton for late training sessions

During my current schedule I don't get out of the gym until 10:30pm, then I usually get in bed by about midnite. Right after I train I usually consume a shake of 60grams protein and some simple carbs from gatorade about 40grams. I usually feel hungry again right when I'm hitting the sack at midnite, I have been sticking to just pro/fat meal before bed, although I'm starving and feel like consuming a larger meal.

My question is am I comprimising my gains by not taking advantage of having a bigger meal at that time?

Yes.
 
Drink your PWO Shake and take all your supplements....then eat a real meal an hour later. Go to bed at 12:30 if you have to.....but eat.

Your body is screaming for building blocks PWO, give them to it.

Last night I had my shake as usual pwo around 10:15pm then I had a meal at 12, I was very hungry, I had some sirloin and sweet potatoe. Went to sleep a lot easier too, just worried about taking in carbs late.
 
I have almost the same exact schedule. With myself it all depends on what i am doing cutting/bulking. I am doing kind of a lean bulk right now and I normally eat my carbs during the day then postworkout I do 50grams of carbs in my shake. Then I just rely on good fats at night. I eat a 10oz steak and a green salad If I am still hungry I just eat some natural peanut butter. That is like candy to me. It seems to work well for me. I just dont see eating anymore carbs right befor bed. That is my opinion. Just go by how you look. If you get sloppy then cut it back. Goodluck...
 
I'm in the same boat as you and have wondered the same. I think that it would be fine to consume a meal like you stated in your last meal of the day on workout days only though and just straight protein before bed on non workout days. Anyone els have any opinions on this? Should some carb meals be dropped during the day on workout days since you will be having a carb meal at the last meal of the day?
