so the feds raid PowerMedica under pretense of looking for mislabled or counterfeit drugs...so far 8 Police officers are on desk duty for receiving steroids without a prescription. They all had to take drug tests today....This is just the begining of this fiasco

I always thought that those mail-order shops that advertised openly in magazines required blood work in order to receive product. Also, don't they have doctors on staff to write out the Rx for the "patient"?

Seems as if they were just taking orders for stuff...

Writting false prescriptions is a petty crime?! The power to write prescriptions is a responsibility given to those who have completed a rigorous educational program. Abuse of that power for a buck gives the profession a bad name and shows a lack of integrity and responsibility.

It is different when your doctor gets bloodwork from you, supervises your usage and makes sure that you get periodic checkups.. This company never met anyone; they just started writting shit down on paper without any ethics..


That is NOT a petty crime.

There is a deep ideological battle behind this, and countless other situations like this.

I can name, off the top of my head, over a dozen persons on this board that are more familiar with the use of anabolic steroids than any doctor I've ever been to. Period.

Don't let the government force you into believing that you have no individual rights in terms of your medical state. It's all about REGULATION and GROWTH OF BUREAUCRACY - it has nothing to do with "law".

Does anyone actually believe that the government cares if you live or die? If they did then they would ban smoking and alcohol - not steroids.

It's a shame that the governmental bureaucracy has turned average citizens into criminals by enacting laws that do nothing but fatten the wallets of special interest groups, and in turn, legislatures.

bro my opinion had nothing to do with individual choice in using steroids. I too believe in JUST and UNJUST laws and I don't believe they should be illegal.. The point I'm arguing is ruthless irresponsibility in the abuse of prescription power by the MD who wrote out these prescriptions without consultation.

If doctors are willing to do ANYTHING to make a buck, we are in SERIOUS trouble

Do you even doubt for a second that doctors are not willing to do anything for a buck? Medical text books in this country are actually produced by pharmaceutical companies. No joke, bro! That's sad. There is institutionalized corruption on every level. Hell, my dermatologist won't even prescribe me basic tetracycline or minocycline anymore. It's all "new" drugs, and they're expensive as hell and he gives me a coupon with each Rx. Guess why? He gets a kickback for writing the Rx. It's a joke and it's a joke at our expense!

The government, pharmaceutical companies, special interest groups have no place in a relationship with me and my doctor.

I deal with countless situations every month in which a doctor has opted to take a fast buck instead of providing quality medical care. The system is set up to promote volume over care. Sad...

i think you are right.. i think there are definitely doctors out there who are quick to make money... But thinking you are right makes me sad at the sametime.. Medicine is/was a noble profession with titles held by those with the highest of moral standards.. if that is no longer the case in some situations, I am more than disappointed

I work in medicine and can tell you this....

It is mostly about the money. Im not saying your going to poor quality care, but most Doc's are all about the money. They do have your health in mind, but the almighty dollar is far greater to most. It is sad but true. Hell when I had my cholesterol checked last they prescribed my pravachol. Now I know for a fact the pharm rep was really pushing this at the time. Now my insurance doesnt cover pravachol and the shit is expensive. It seems that my doc was getting free trip to the Bahamas for "a medical conference" and it was at some seriously fancy resort. I know this because my buddy works in the office. I went back and told her to change it to mevacor. Basicly all statin cholest meds are the same just some cost more do to the damn pharm companys. Like I said all about the money.
