"Protein powders" a scam?

The N.Y. Times Bestseller " NATURAL CURES "THEY" DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT by Kevin Trudeau talks about protein powders.

Kevin says to not eat protein powders because they are man-made products filled with chemicals to provide, first and foremost, good taste. They are highly processed and should be avoided.

My experience with protein shakes vs real food is this; Protein powders gas my stomach up and give me heartburn. I have bought some protein powder that was total crap.

Real food made my muscle mass increase more so and without the stomach upset. I also avoided the bloat associated with protein shakes.

Anyone have opinions about protein powders as good or bad? Am I the only one who feels the supplement industries are shoving protein down our throat to make a profit? :(

I have bought some protein powder that was total crap.

Alot are!!! You have to find one that isn't. You have think its not that pratical to eat 400 grms of protien from meat a day. Kind of hard and that much meat is hard to break down an digets every day if not more so than some protien powders.

That's obviously because you only used crap protein powders, which don't meet label claims, like 99% of the powders out there.

If you use a proper REAL true good quality powder like SynthePURE (cfm whey isolate) which has no lactose, no fats, no sugars or carbs and absolutely zero fillers, not only that it dissolves straight away and it has no taste, but you will get zero gas, bloating or upset sotmach.
Product is so good, if it doesn't meet label claims it comes with double money back guarantee. Call the makers of the brands that you have used so far and see if they are willing to do that!

So, what I am saying is that a true proper quality powder is a very good addition to your meal plan. Something like SynthePURE can even be used all the way up to a comp without any problems.

I drink a shitload of protein powder. I love it. Not much of anything bothers my stomach though. The powders work well for me, especially muscle milk. If I had to eat that much food, I'd be insane.

Yeah...sounds like lactose intolerance to me too. I can't use store bought, hyped up shit either. If I even walk into a GNC I get diarhea because of my lactose intolerance. The bright side to that issssssssss: It made me do my research to find JUST protein, no hype, no lactose... works perfect and at less than 1/2 the cost of the stuff in GNC etc.

What bought me was when I read the labels in GNC and compared the serving size to get 25grm of protein vs the serving size at the factory or SynthePURE like Big A said.

Oh but you may say.. what about the weight gain shakes and not just pure protein. Want a weight gain shake? Get factory egg white powder.. it's like $7 a POUND! 1/3 cup 25gm protein...add a bagel (egg bagel that is). You just got your weight gainer at a cheaper price.

2/3 cup egg white powder: 48g protien 0 Fat 240 cals
1 egg bagel: 8g protein 1g fat 42g Carbs (5g from sugar) 210 Cals

Total = 350 Cals 56g protein

3 of these a day = 1050 Cals 144g protein

Note: Add two cups of ZERO fat 'Lactaid' milk instead of water (remember we don't combine fat and carbs in same meal), and you have:
160 more cals per and 16g more protein equaling: 510 cals & 58g protein per serving for a grand total of:
1530 cals .... 192g protein per day! and only 3g of fat OMG!

There's 1/3-1/2 (depending on desired diet goals), of your daily intake where as the rest would come from whole meals! Another good thing about this is: Just one egg bagel and the shake won't fill you up... you'll be hungry again in a couple hours.

Research a bit

I would say that 1 out of 20 brands live up to their labels ...synthepure being one of them.. I have to get the book you are talking about as i have heard him talk and i am curious to know what he has to say..

by from a highly recommeded brand that guys like us say work well..do not take the ads for real, 99% of the time they are a joke...

this has been a major concern since protein powders came out but imho protein powders are awesome! I just believe you can use them exclusively- I use them for half of my diet like 150g protein from that and 150-200g protein from chicken or something else like eggs- never used synthepure yet so I cant comment- but from what I hear it seems promising- I have always used eas or cytosport-they are both imo very good with great protein ratio and low fat and sugar!

Jon

i have made great gains using isopure and am now using cytosport evopro and freakin love it, its just like muscle milk but without so much fat.

Well it's the difference between commercial and or what I call supermarket proteins.
Which are made up of cheap protein blends and fillers and sweetners and turn you into a gas factory.
I always use a protein powder that is pure likeSynthePure or ION X whey protein from trueprotein.

champion nutrition met max is a great protein as well. You never see them advertise, and they have been around for awhile as their protein is good, high quality blends. I also love isopure, and have never had any problems with it whatsoever.

Does SynthPURE contain artificial sweetners like APSPARTANE? Kevin says all artificial sweetners including SPLENDA are bad news. Dropping my diet rite consumption which contain SPLENDA is going to be one major challenge for me. :(

Seems more like this "Kevin" is a scam. I see he's been banned by the FCC from doing all his infamous infomercials too. Does he have any real data to prove aspartame or Splenda is dangerous? I wouldn't cut out your diet rite just yet bro.

all these organic dont panic people are scammers. just to get you to buy their shit. they are no better than supplement companies. find a good protein you like, something like synthetek or true protein or protein factory and stick with it. its some of the best stuff you can get. its obvious you will gain more muscle eating whole food vs shitty protein powder. quality does count for something still.

and while there are studies that say ace k and splenda are harmful, there are others that say they are completely safe. no one will ever agree on an issue. there is always someone who will have the opposite opinoin. if artificial sweetners dont work for you, omit them and try stevia.

dont believe the organic hype. i ate completely organic everything for 1 month to prove a point to a local trainer/nutrionist here and i did. i felt no different, didnt have more energy, in fact had less and my blood work came back within +/- 3-5% of my original blood tests...so in my conclusion organic is not proven to be better. maybe for some if their bodies cant handle it, but for others maybe not. look at kobayashi, the food eating champion of the world. little asian guy, all ripped up eating shitty pastas and hot dogs and still looking good....genetics is everything to a point...people need to understand and admit that to themselves

ok, thats my rant on this issue...

reminds me of that guy paul chek and the chek institute...no to bring in religion but he thinks religion and sex are tied into training. the guy is a complete wacko and yet many people follow him with a cult like status. no offense to any chek practioners that may be on here, but it all bullshit. your leader believes there was 4 jesus christs. are u serious? religion and training should not be mentioned together. 2 totally separate ideas entirely. but this guy woos people over with his brain washing seminars promising everything with nothing to back it up. claims he has better doctors than mayo, john hopkins, etc.

he is another direct marketing mastermind...

I'm glad I'm not the only one to feel this way. Ive read the book and while thee are many good points I feel like I have been scammed. I believe the organic food is also over-reated and I plan to send the book back.

DONT BUY HIS BOOK!!!!!!
