Don't you think doing your DL with a belt is counterproductive? Maybe a little less weight on the bar but full emphasis on the lower back?

If it were a purely lower back exercise, that might make sense. But it's a whole back movement (and almost a whole body movement) and the more weight I can handle, the more stimulation my traps, rhomboids, lats, glutes (teehee), hams, etc. can handle.
If I wanted to just isolate my lower back I'd do hyperextensions, or that seated good morning machine.

man, I don't know how you grip the bar that long. I just got home from the gym, and was doing legs (with deadlifts) and was losing grip of the bar after a certain point. I've been working on grip strength work (rolling barbell from fingers into the palm while standing [just like gripping something]), but you have monster hands. Maybe I could start using the captains of crush hand gripper?

Thanks again for the props guys. The top end of my deadlift (above the knees) is always my sticking point in a full deadlift, so I'm really going to work on overloading these this offseason in hopes that it will translate to a bigger floor deadlift.
