I have been training all muscle groups equally but can't seem to get my back caught up, would it be wise to simply train back 2x a week. I just want width and a tad more thickness so I'm thinking about just training back every 5th day and taking all other days off to rest and keep my nervous system fresh as well.

Does this make sense?

All my other body parts are decent so I really don't feel the need to train them, even when I took off 6 months my body stayed in rather tight form.

So can you guys help me from a scientific stand point as to why this may work ect.

the more frequently you can stimulate growth and recover, the more you will grow.

that's about as scientific as i get.

think frequency over volume. cns burnout will be avoided if you keep your training sessions brief.

frequency

i've been doing 7 sets for back twice weekly with excellent results. enough to stimulate growth and not too much to hinder recovery.

Could you please elaborate, I'm very interested.

My question is though this....If I only train back will it catch up faster, or would it catch up the same if I trained back and everything else per week?

I'm trying to figure out my best options to get gains and growth just for back.

You must train other muscles also. Just training one muscle group will not give you max growth. You must stimulate other muscle groups.

You could train back 2x a week like the other esteemed members of this have suggested. However, when I find that one of my bodyparts is lagging, what I do is add some advanced sets to my back day. I'm talking about tri sets, rest pause sets, drop sets, negatives and partials. It works for me and helps my lagging body part catch up to the rest of my body.

But if I only want my back to grow why must I stimulate all muscle groups?

Your body grows and fatigues and whole unit.

You can't send nutrients to a specific body part
at will. Nor can you recover a particular body part
without the remainder of your body having to recover.

The entire body experiences the consequences of
progressive exercise (both the positive and negative effects),
not just the particular body part you are putting under stress.
Ultimately, you can't keep these things separate.

You don't sleep with one eye open do you?

I don't mind if other body parts grow a bit when Im doing back, my concern is what is the FASTEST way to build a bigger back, if I'm only training back and letting my entire body rest until the next back day (day 5) wouldn't my back catch up rather quickly?.

how much do you deadlift? i bet if it was 600lbs for 5 reps you'd have a monsterous back. so get your deadlift up, keep training with the mind set of lifting big weight and youll be big everywhere.
