I was about 210-213lbs last time on the scale. I want to thank Prowriststraps for sending me every thing I requested due to member of the month. Tonight I'm going to go for a new PR on decline and try 500lbs using their wraps.
I got 495 last week so I feel good about it, but I'm in the off season so who knows. I cannot do flat due to a injury with my left shoulder, but we'll see what happens. If I hit it I'll post it up in this thread later.

If you are not a powerlifter, a 1 rep max is stupid. Not only does it not build muscle (momentum, cant really control the weight well, 1st rep is always the most dangerous) you can be injured. Why not 4-5 good/clean reps with 400? You will get a lot more out of that.

Technically I'm a powerlifter, I broke a state bench record at 17 in MI. But why do it? who really can define the why? If breaking a personal record does some thing for me, for personal achievement to make me feel better about my self whats wrong with that? I have been lifting for 11yrs I doubt I'm going to get injured today, and even if there is a risk of that Its never happened in the previous 11yrs so I'm not about to limit my self today based on the risk or tomorrow. I have never broken that 500lb barrier so I say why not? I can do it, so try it, and do it.
 
why do you push heavy weight, because you can. the 500 club is no joke and thats a great feeling. not many can say they pushed a 500 and at your weight its amazing if you ask me. its not like your 250
 
There is no better feeling than benching a big weight!

I disagree. I wouldn't condone 1 rep max as a standard workout scheme, but it gives me great pumps when I do and it seems to help me gain if I do it every six weeks or so.

You're right, strength allows you to push heavier weight, more positive/negative resistance/stress on the muscle.. a direct correlation with mass/size. This is like saying negative reps are worthless because they only focus on the negative portion of the exercise and don't equate to even 1 rep.

he's been lifting for 11 years, i think he knows he will get a better workout with 4 or 5 reps than 1 rep. he's a powerlifter and wants a 500. go get it bro
 
I think if you hit the 495 last week you are going to be a member of the 500 club today. WHich is a great accomplishment, CONGRATS EARLY!!!!

Go get it Dave, hell of a lift at 215. Best I've been able to get at the same bw is 475. You got some freaky strength there bro!!!
 
keep in mind that a decline is much, much, much easier than a flat bench. your title is misleading, is all

still very impressive for your weight, no doubt
