Brings back memories. That's how we all did them back in the 70's & 80's. I would routinely get a lumbar strain about twice a year doing them that way haha. Always on a block to get that extreme stretch - if no block was around, stand on 3 plates or stand on a bench. When the 90's rolled around and Yates' version became popular, I started doing them that way. Never had a strain doing them since. Prolly goes without saying that if Yates didn't have such amazing back development, his style would have never took off like it did.
