Just finished Project Monkey Mind. I highly recommend that to anyone. I would say it's almost mandatory reading for anyone who spends a lot of time with technology

@slesh we spoke recently about removing social media from phones, this is very relevant to that discussion.

I'm now moving on to Atomic Habits by James Clear.

Please share what you are reading and a brief synopsis if you care enough.

This storm : a novel
- James Ellroy

The demon dog of American crime fiction.

Tried to read his latest but i swear he was a much better writing when he was taking drugs, not when he is sober.

Some of his earliest work I really like.

Thanks dude - will definitely check it out.

Sadly I’m not reading anything for pleasure at the moment. Work has been super stressful. When I have free time I basically watch some sports talk shows like First Things First and I’m rewatching Sopranos for the 25th anniversary. After work I just want mindless shit right now…

You know I never watched Sopranos, heard so many good things about it over years.

I think when it originally came out I was going through a very busy period of my own and it kinda passed me by.

Unfortunately they've taken it off UK Netflix so I'll have to catch it next time it's on.

It’s objectively a top 5 show of all time. Do you have HBO Max over there?

Nah I don't think I do.

My brother is quite good at the whole internet "legal" downloading thing, so I might get him to pull them all.
Yeah was gonna say you can easily bootleg it somewhere and cast it to your TV. Absolutely worth trying.

Meditations by Marcus Aurelius

I’ve been taking an interest in stoicism recently, and it’s been a good read

One of my favorites.

Did you ever read Platos Republic? Those two were some of the first and still favourite philosophy books I read. Not very similar but I just recall reading them together.

What are your other 4?
Great question. Don’t know if I can narrow it down to just 4. Maybe if I split drama and comedy because The Office, Seinfeld and Curb have to be mentioned. For 1 hour dramas you got Sopranos, Breaking Bad, The Wire, Succession, Mad Men, Friday Night Lights, GOT, Battlestar Galactica and Firefly (tragically canceled after one season but legendary). Lol I went a few over…

Band of Brothers is a mini series so not sure if that counts in this discussion but it’s all time great series.

The Office (US) and Seinfeld definitely.

Personally I'd also have to include:

Star Trek TNG
Stargate, the one with MacGyver

These are some classics.

If you like SyFy there is nothing better than the Battlestar remake and Firefly
