Particular show? Health? Beach bod? Whats your story and what are you doing to get there? I'll start, I'm currently training to compete at the 2010 Jr. USA's. I had taken a few months off from bodybuilding because I wanted to be "normal" for a while and got into functional training and was evening doing crossfit. But that didn't last to long because bodybuilding is ingraved in my DNA. So I've been back in the gym for a little over a month now, eating and training like a bodybuilder again and LOVE it! Have made good gains and plan for them to keep coming up into the show. Currently doing a push/pull/leg split DC style. What about the rest of you guys? Why do you TRAIN?

good question

honestly....i train because i think im sick in the head
and i think i need a shrink

To be better tomorrow than I am today.

Im 31 years old, 5'10"(add a half if I cheat and the nurse ain't looking) and have always been under 175lbs until I hit 23 and started lifting weights on a regular basis. I wrestled(2yrs.) and played basketball(1yr.) in high school and skipped on going to college because no one in my family went (and I have a huge family, 26 cousins). I guess we were all the blue collar types but as I get older I kind of wish I did and think about going back sometimes. Anywho, I'm a master electrician and enjoy physical work and activities. I love pushing myself harder and feeling like I'm back in team or individual sports. It's like watching a great movie or reading an autobiography of someone inspirational. That is what I get from lifting. It's hard to explain but it just feels good and I know that I'm as healthy as I can be. My first cycle was 4 years ago and since then I've been 196lbs or more and my bf has been improving since, about 11-12%bf currently. But aas isn't always a necessity for me and I enjoy pushing myself with or without. Honestly its all about improving myself, feeling better, and having the passion for something that I enjoy doing and helps my self esteem and my health.

no not be the fat fuck that i was.......and to behonest imwith tenny....def def def something fuked up in my head and training pushes it to the side and occupys my mind

What weight class are you competing in?

I would say im training to be a solid 240ish grappler. Basically like a jeff monson, a really solid muscled physique with the ability to move and take care of myself.

What weight class are you competing in?

Probably welter. I won my states show open lightweight last year but it killed me to get to that weight, just wasn't big enough to be a middle. I have to check and see if I'm still qualified for next year since the npc rules have changed, some people say I am and some say I need to requalify. Whatever the chase I want to be a Welter or middle

My goal

2010 Canadian Championships. My first go so hope to do ok.

at first i would say health, feeling well being, beach bod etc etc etc...and now after reading this board constantly i really contemplating doin a small show sometime in pretty near future

I'm training for my sanity and my self-respect. It makes me happy and clears my head of worries and nonsense.

Because EVERY good thing in my life has been somehow connected to weightlifting/BBing. It is a positive thing that leads to other positive things. I don't work in the industry. But living in a place I love, my job, my home, my girlfriend, my best friend, are all but "six degrees" seperated from strength/BBing/sports involvement. Over 20 years of proof.

Otherwise, because it makes me look and feel good, relieves stress and sets me apart from the crowd. And because I was a psychotic young lad who needed an outlet.

Currently, my goal is to get my LBM up to 210lbs. This will put me at 231lbs@10% BF. The reason is then to compete and just look as good as I can, if I can reach this goal.

at first i wasn't honest with my self... but for a year now, i'm pretty comfortable saying that i do it for attention.
i've been average in almost everything i've done in my life...
school, college, work, techy stuff...
once i got into bodybuilding... i just had to "be there" for people to notice that i'm good at something.
you can have a triple PhD in nuclear physiques, when you walk around the street, no one notices you. but if you're a bodybuilder? you're immediately "special"... i don't care what people say, that's just how it is. The bigger you get, the more "special" you are... especially if you are a big guy and you like to smile :) ... people immediately approach you and start conversations... hell, i got free food a couple of times. and i got hit on in a club WHILE I WAS DANCING WITH MY WIFE!! I felt kinda bad cuz it pissed my wife off, but come on... who wouldn't want that?

so, yeah... in conclusion... attentions :)

You need to come to Japan bro...take all that and multiply it by 10x.
:D

I train for a few reasons...for one, bodybuilding is one of the only sports I can say I'm somewhat "good" at. I enjoy playing with my diet and training, it's like my own little science project. Also, I like the way I look and feel. I don't believe most people that say they don't do it to get attention. There is certainly something about the way people look at me when I'm in shape that is almost addictive. And finally, I do have competitive aspirations for the near future.

I'm training to look better. Plain and simple. I don't lie to myself about it.

Like buselmo I like a little extra female attention even if I do have a great woman.

i started for attention. now i could care less. it the only hour of the day where i dont have to worry about anything but what im doing. not expediting and trying to remember if i ordered enough grey goose, cash out 4 servers, set up a banquet etc. i get to go in the gym, blast some metal on the ipod and beat the crap out of myself for a hour that is more fun and enjoyable than anything else i do other than sex and cheat meals ofcourse. i love fighting the weights and especially winning that fight. oh and i domt MIND the extra attention form the opposite sex.....yes i lift to get laid. :)
