im fairly new to the keto and sometimes i guess i'm just not motivated enough to stick with the keto, cuz its just mental weakness, im just weak i guess when it comes to food , and im hungy as shit, sometimes i can go almost 2 weeks but its rare, i crack alot on the 3 to 5 day marks and gorge, what strategies have helped yall stay consistant with it, like just really determined to reach competing goals? thinking of fat people? looking good for the gals or preventing to much fat gain to keep one? any mental things or phrases you might remind yourself about? anything you do to keep you motivated to stay consistant with keto, post it!

I actually feel better on keto, but I am diabetic. The food choices do become pretty limited and the same food gets old.

If you stick to it and start seeing results that will help with motivation.Goals and deadlines also help a lot.

Also the keto type diet isn't for everyone so don't feel its the only way.

Good luck

if its so hard to stick to... are you sure its a SMART diet...? -JS

I hate keto! Every meal is SO DAMN unsatisfying! Only time I do keto is on DNP to avoid DNP carb cravings and lessen heat/sides. I'd prefer just doing carb cycling over keto. Just switch between 3 different types of days, no carb, low carb, and high carb that way you can stay sane.

Are you dieting for a show? I'm assuming you're not and this is only to get into better shape. If your macros are on point, you shouldn't really be craving foods. With enough fat present you really shouldn't feel that bad. In my opinion at least. I've run a full keto type diet for a contest prep and I was fine. As far as motivation is concerned, either you want it or you don't. There has to be a certain amount of intrinsic motivation present or else what do you have to shoot for? I've never understood the concept of failing on a diet. Maybe because the only times I've dieted have been prior to getting on stage. It's not an option at that point....ever. Is the end result of looking the way you want to worth more than giving in to your cravings? It must not be at this point or else you wouldn't be cheating. What are your goals by the way? I know I asked this before, but are you competing?

I've done a keto diet lasting 10-16 weeks every year for prob the past 8 years. Couple of tips:

ECA stacks, or OTC supplements like Venom help a lot with cravings. They also cut hunger down.

You didn't mention whether you are doing a CKD... I do a carb-up weekend every other weekend, where eating all the Fruity Pepples I can fit into my face helps a lot. Weekly carb-ups (like the original CKD) slowed my progress, so I only do it every other weekend, for only 36 hours.

Lastly, if you eat pretty clean throughout the year (I never eat burgers, only chicken sandwiches; I never eat bacon; etc), then eating bacon and eggs, hotdogs and beef jerky, steak in butter, salmon with creamed spinach -- it's great. It's like a break for me mentally, since I don't touch any of that throughout the rest of the year.

competing is a possibilty i think i would like to do, but not nescarily a serious devoted type of passion, i def like to get big strong and stay lean and get leaner enough for some summer pics, my diet is clean, i do the cheat meal thing but ends up being a night time gorge, or if i fall off sometimes just all dam day, i guess it all comes down how commited you are to the goals, but its like i feel like im very commited to it, but at the same time the cravings for the junk food get in my head and seem to over power, i know say some keto isnt for everyone, and try diff days of variations of carbs, i seem to be more the type like one or the other, strict keto, or bullshit eating, not talking about when im bulking thoe, when im bulking with the more pro and consistant carb eating i can keep it cleaner longer with cheats here and there, my prob is mental, they need a a pill that takes your mind cravings complety off of carbs, that would prob be the new diet drug of the future lol, as for appetite suppresors ive never had anything that can kill my appetite or cravings

summer pics? lol. but anyway for my keto success its about using equal (sugar sub) and ALWAYS having my meals on hand. Motivation should be one thing. getting ripped, thats is for me.

After about 4 days you should feel great. give yourself a cheat Meal once a week to give yourself something to look forward to. im on a keto contest diet now and i prefer it over conventional contest prep diets simply because i have no cravings.

Yeah, the adjustment time varies, but 4 days to a week or so seems about right in my experience. After that, it's 99% of the time, no cravings, low hunger, great diet. 1% of the time crazy cravings for a fucking sandwich.

ya for seems to more closer to the week point, which is long and dreadful at the times , the key seems to be somehow to keep carbs away from your mind. it doesnt help when you live with some poeple that eat icecream, cheese, candy all day every day neither

A large peperoni pizza mid week keeps me from craving anything. For me, the diet stalls if I dont cheat occasionally.

There is alot of wisdom in Johnny's statement. No diet will work if you can't stick with it. Better to find an approach that is realistic for YOU.

Hire a trainer to help you with the proper diet

I've been on a Keto for 12 weeks now. I eat 5 times a day every 2 1/2 to 3 hours. I really don't get cravings cuz I eat so often. I work with Alex Azarian and he designed my diet. I guess the motivation is that I'm seeing serious results after 12 weeks. I had a cheat meal for the 1st time this past Saturday. I wasn't allowed any in the beginning, but after I got into a "flow", I really didn't need one. The only reason why I had a cheat was because I hit a plateau. I've lost 30 lbs of fat in 12 weeks. Maybe you aren't eating enuff of the right carbs.

The best thing I ever did was hiring Alex. I tried to diet (Keto) on my own and I would always fail and give in, thats because I wasn't doing it right. If your not with a trainer now, I suggest you inquire about any of the qualified trainers here on this board(Phil Hernon, Shelby), but I can't say enough about Alex Azarian. Here's his info if you wanna take a look: prepbyalex.com

It was the best thing I ever did for myself.

oh and I stop watching the food channel and Man Vs. Food.

cutting carbs was the biggest mistake i've ever done in my entire "bodybuilding" life...

never again...

was losing fat for the past 4 weeks without keto... great results... decided to go on keto... fat loss is the same, but i look and feel like total shit.

my advice is the same as JS and mountaindog... find another diet.
