Why are long esters used for bulking and short esters for cutting?

Well my question is as the title says really

Why use short esters for cutting when you can pin less frequently using long esters such as cyp and enan and run for a longer period of time to allow you to cut slowly and reduce muscle loss?

Good question. I can only ASSUME it is because the longer esters such as Test E, Test C, Sust, Deca, etc, is that they cause notably more water retention as opposed to Prop, NPP, etc. Only when it comes to Tren A or Tren E there is no difference, but thats because Tren doesnt aromatise and therefore causes no water retention.

Thats my assumption. Would be glad to read other people's opinions or facts on the matter.

You can cut with any estered steroid it doesn't matter at all. It's all about the roids sparing your muscle because you are consuming less calories than your body needs.
 
In the end, it doesn't matter. Some anabolics create water retention that creates some leverage but not actual LBM gains.
 
No difference at all unless you're sensitive to ester reactions, which may play a role coming up to a contest. Other than that, choose what you prefer.

I have never noticed a difference.
when bodyfat is low and diet is in check there is no difference in ester to me in the past. in fact, i prefer long esters so i don't feel (and look) like a pin cushion lol.

another one of those myth from the 80-90's, people would use either tren a or masteron and assume that the ester was somehow contributing to the fat loss.
 
I think people put to much thought into it. Pretty sure its the water weight.
 
test is test.......you can get ripped on any AAS you choose. it is all about diet. You want to try and grow, eat more quality cals and train smart. You want to get ripped to shreds, go on a diet and train smart. Choose your poison!!:)
 
I would say it may have something to do with the amount of time you are doing either. If you are bulking for say 20 weeks and planning to cut for 10-12 after that, the amout of pinning you do would definitely come into play. If it doesn't matter to you how often you pin then I guess it wouldn't matter.
 
Im glad so many on this thread expressed the fact that the esters dont work that way. It really is another example of what some call "bro science"! IMO, there is not much need at all to ever take short esters. I too played into this myth for a long time but after years of use I discovered the truth. All those years I suffered doing test base and test prop injections!
 
With long esters you have to watch your sodium and carb intake more carefully as you cant get away with what you would on short esters:)

You are correct in that people tend to assume the shorter esters are better cutters because there is less water retention, howerver......The actual drugs act the same......test is test seems to be a very true and popular phrase around here.

You can cut with penut better and jelly too although it is not optimal as a chicken breast and greens at the same cals.....Just an analogy for: Lower aromatizing AAS like Anavar, Tren, and Masteron do put your body in a more favorable environment for fat burning than higher aromatizing drugs do at simialr mg per mg dosages.....Esters don't come into play when looking at it from this point of view (tren A, E, or blends for example).

Good point JS, and when down to the last 3 weeks, the extra pinning will take its toll.... Hell, everything takes it's toll if you are as attached to your food as I am.
