So what does he do then?

He came in the Cal at 5'11" 180

He felt that was too small and he needed to make a big jump.

So he took the governor off for the next 1.5 years.

He bulks up to 285 pounds. Is that pretty? Nope. Do you think he was a chick magnet at that weight? I doubt it. Do you think all the lean guys in this forum would have said posts like "look at that fat permabulker, he looks like shit"....."man he is out of shape"...."I would never do that" etc etc etc if those were the only pics they ever saw of this kid?

Now what did that 285 pounds of all out bulking do to that kid? Look at the pics attached below

It puts 40 pounds on his onstage contest weight.

FORTY!

He comes in the other day at 220......in less than 2 years time, that kid puts on 40 pounds of muscle mass.

Bodybuilder reading: "But he is on the juice!"

Yea -- and so are you! Have you gained 40 pounds on your onstage contest weight in less than a year and a half?

He took the governor off with food and became a sloppy out of shape blob yet underneath all that bodyfat and bulk he put on, was a shitload of muscle mass.

Again it sure as hell aint always pretty and again it might not be your cup of tea and yes there might be a more viable way of going about it.....but when i say "Food is your anabolic"....I have no problem showing examples of that anabolic process....pretty or unpretty.

so 180 onstage at 17-18 years old and 220 pounds onstage at 19.

That 65 pounds he had to lose probably wasnt awesome was it? But the method of the madness allowed him 40 more pounds of muscle mass.

I am not recommending that exact route but when Dusty put up his thread a while back of how he uses gross amounts of clean food to get larger and everyone gave him shit saying he was a bullshit artist....it put a burr in my ass....because thats how I like to do things with people.

For how long would you recomaned to keep him at that wight before to diet down to contect?.....I think that's what most people misunderstand....

but was never able to get "not-pretty" as you called it
mass????

not for lack of trying!!!!.....7, 8 thousand cals a day!!!!

just wasnt able to put it on

i dont think he looks fat at all. i personaly like that look over the overrated six pack yr. round anyday. as dc says he hit the perfect middle ground.
 
I love DC's posts. I dont know shit about how to do this stuff and im here to learn so i love to hear another point of view besides the people that say you must remain at 10% bf year round and your lucky to gain 5lbs of muscle mass in a year, and how adding bodyfat makes it harder for you to gain muscle.

Which was is best? I have no idea, but i love reading Dantes view point and I love how he doesnt just go along with what everyone says. And the pics show proof of how his method has worked wonders.

A couple things i have read in the past I was wondering about...

1. I read somewhere (not sure where) that once you get up to about 20% your leptin levels are optimal, and you are able to build muscle mass better. On the other hand some people say when you add extra bf, you are not sensitive to insulin, so they advise to stay lean. Any opinions on this? I have heard guys on this board talk about insulin sensitivity being better when lean (the stay lean year round crowd), but havent heard anyone comment on how leptin levels are more ideal if you eat your way up to 15-20%.


2. I have also read that when you start putting on fat, fat cells get to a certain size, then when they can no longer grow, they spit and you are left with more fat cells. Therefore it will be harder to get leaner. This makes sense scientifically, but from what im seeing in pics it doesnt actually work this way. Any comments on this??

well.....my stage has changed maybe 15lbs in 12 years
206 very first show
224 very last show

somewhat same conditioning

the more i eat.....the more i shit....lol
nothing else changes......changes come slow
but with consistentcy

if i try to force feed....i get sick
and LOSE weight

i do high volume
it worked well for a long time

now i'm affraid i'm going to have to look into DC

he says "if it aint broke, dont fix it"
kinda like....."but its worked for you, this far"

and i agree with him...but gains seem to be at a stand still
 
IN your last show...You look bigger than 224lbs...Lots of muscle on ya...

Trust me brother, no need to fear it.........embrace it and learn it, and you will grow past your barriers. I can guarantee you that. My only regret is not using DCtraining sooner. It's not the "only" program out there for gains, not even close, but it is the best i've ever used, and i'm not near as knowledgeable about it as a large percentage of people here.

TBH, I find it just fun as hell to do. I have no doubt you will love it:)

Tenny do you have any issues with acid reflux?
 
4 years change from 140 lbs to 210 lbs. while never getting over 12% bf. i know for a fact that if i bulked heavier and gained more fat weight than my overall size and body weight would far exceed what it does now.

Now i dont think much of anyone who is 13-14 years old because thats a boy not a man and he hasnt gone thru the whole "growing into adulthood process"

But regardless I wanted to show you a starting point.

This is OT but kids starting to juice in their early-mid teens probably shouldn't be role models for anyone. OTOH so many champion did the same, but should there be shows for these child drug experiments? A bit of a dilemma.

DC, would you have trained a 16-17 year old Cody for shows even if you only dealt with the diet and training part? You might have advised getting off but what if he wouldn't?
 
I also dont think the Kid was that fat offseason. Hell there are guys out there fatter and dont train so whats a little fat on a bodybuilders frame.
