Dymatize for the win every time for meIt's one of the most affordable because it's one of the most shit quality.
The only protein powders I'll consume are from Optimum Nutrition, Dymatize, and True Nutrition.
And by the way it’s also cheap because it’s a fucking blend…I've been buying this "8-hour" blend from muscletech for a while. I'm wondering if I'm just missing something. Are there more affordable options? I remember back in the mid-00s we used to make fun of people who bought what was then the overpriced muscletech supps..

(1) I like to have a blend for night time and meal replacement. I use a whey iso/hydro, usually dymatize, as well, but that's only for in the morning when I need fast aminos before my workout. When I go to sleep I don't want to drink 80 grams of whey protein,, that wouldn't make sense. 80-100g of a blend does though. And by the way it’s also cheap because it’s a fucking blend…
What you do is you look up the protein per serving and divide by cost. I haven't found a cheaper protein. Nor do I find that whey, or milk protein isolate or casein or any other source of milk protein to be more expensive than blends.I'm not sure if i'd call it crap, but it really depends on what your expectations are....is it all whey iso,nope....but a blend of cheaper proteins. MT has always been about hype, and in the past a rip off in price. I would note that this is 4.5# and not 5#. Also, i'm not sure if MT still does this, but that's 4.6# of Protein + sweeteners and flavorings and preservatives. Places like TN give you the 4.6# of protein, then add the other stuff afterward. This MT option is not 4.6# of just protein. It states that it is 26g of protein per scoop, but if you notice, the scoop is much larger at 42g instead of the typical say...34g from TN equaling 25g of concentrate. They have to compensate by using a larger scoop to get nearly the same amount of protein. They probably go a little more on the calcium caseinate to bring the price down. All the other proteins, i'm fine with. The carbs may be a little high for some users depending on their goal(s). If you tolerate it well enough, it may not be a bad buy, but probably not ideal. If you were on a budget, then it could work seeing it's around $11'ish dollars/pound in wt.
I don't think they have all those proteins, but it would be interesting to see what the cost would come out to designing it over at TN's custom-build option. I don't think they have calcium caseinate though. Somebody correct me, but I believe the ON at Costco that goes on sale every Christmas is also a blend? My ex buys that for herself and likes it. I use TrueNutrition for myself and the kids.
Muscle Tech has been caught amino spiking multiple times over the yearsWhat is "shit quality"?
I'm just looking for protein, not wagyu

(2) I actually don't find blends to be cheaper than regular whey, or straight up casein.
I just googled it. Looks like they stopped the practice of the added aminos a while back, but even when they used to do it, it was transparent on the label.Muscle Tech has been caught amino spiking multiple times over the years
Idk man, I just stay away from companies that have or had practices like that. Companies like O.N., Dymatize and True Nutrition have never been caught doing those things and always meet label claims with independent testing. I’d rather pay a few extra dollars to be sure I’m getting what I’m paying for.I just googled it. It’s cheap. I usually wait for the Optimum Nutrition to go on sale at Costco for ~ $55 for 5 lbs and stock up. They tend to go on sale at the end of the year and I pick up a couple dozen bags over a few trips.
Dymatize and Optimum Nutrition stand head and shoulders above other companies because they're publicly traded (Post and Glanbia, respectively).Idk man, I just stay away from companies that have or had practices like that.
