I have posted this image before but having just run across it again this morning,
could not help but think about some of the recent posts here where members
talk about how much they weigh, or how big their arms, etc. are, or how tall they
are (or aren’t), or how strong they are and or how huge their dosages are.

And then there is the unavoidable; people asking the same as if they too had the
same “numbers” you would somehow, someway, look the same or better. All I can
say to that is lots of luck . . .

But, with damn few exceptions (we know who you are and thank you), we usually
we never see a glimpse of these so called monsters, never see what they actually
look like. We are just reading numbers and weight and height classes’ aside . . .
all those numbers mean absolutely nothing, are for the most part totally irrelevant.

To my eye, nothing illustrates my point more perfectly than the juxtaposition that
occurs in the foto below.

A world class bodybuilder surrounded by two very big and strong young men that on
paper would easily get your attention. Not that they don’t the foto; they are huge
and strong, and if you looked at just their “numbers” you would not fail to be impressed.
But in bodybuilding it takes a tad bit more than big numbers, just size and strength and
huge dosages to be successful.

So to those who have not already done so . . . quit bragging about your numbers and
let’s see some fotos.

It’s how you look, plain and simple.

PS. If your concerned about your anonymity, PM me and I’ll work on your image in
Photoshop to make sure you are unrecognizable and send it back to you. I’m happy
to help and my lips are sealed . . . Does not get any better than that.

Excellent post!!! The only thing I respectfully disagree with is that I doubt those two young men have "numbers" that would get my attention (or ours as a community for that matter).
On paper, im a fatty. 6'2 288lbs this morning :headbang:
Heres me (sorry, dont have any recent "good" pics).

Good post and very true. At my weight I defiantly look like I weigh more than I do. Its all about the way you look, not the numbers as you said.

Thanks brother

Yep I get sick of people posting numbers that make them sounds big and never produce a decent photo to prove.

Numbers mean nothing in BBing. Its about creating an illusion.

One show I did I was on the low end of the heavyweights, won my class, but at weigh ins I has Super Heavies coming up to me asking if I was in their class. To me they were enormous and prayed I wasnt, lol. But it just goes to show that if you look the part those numbers mean jack.

EXCELLENT POST, RON.

Which btw makes me think of a current thread started by a new member in the photo section and titled "The journey"...

Excellent post Alfresco. Telling someone you weigh 225lbs, but look 200lbs - not awesome. Telling someone you weigh 200lbs, but look bigger than that - awesome!

I always get this...how much do you weigh? My response: Prolly less than you;)

Density and perception go along way! Oh and I am a 5'6 midget if that matters:):D

Good one as usual. Much props to you. You are an excellent writer and able to make the reader think about reality. I may just take you up on your generous offer to post a pic or 2. Ill have my 7 year old daughter (excellent photographer btw!) take a few and get with you (after a shave and a tan-its winter!). Very generous offer. Thanks as you are a great asset if not the best writer on board.

Yeah funny thing is when you read the posts it makes you think everyone on this site is a monster. It seems that all the new guys are at least 250lbs, but realistically they would compete at around 180lbs.
