Granted they're just DIII but they've been ranked #2 all year. They just cleaned house today in the quarterfinals. Here's a recap:
On their first possession of game - 64 yard TD pass
They lose/turnover the ball on their next three possesions and the Tigers go up 17-7. The Tigers offensive line averages 292+ pounds!
Score at halftime: Wildcats 42 - Tigers 20. They easily won the game - 56-27
Linfield offense time-with-ball in first half - 9 minutes!
1st half stats: 6 TD passes, 300 plus yards passing
Quarterback finished the game with 404 yds and 7 TD's
Western Region Conference:
Best Offensive Player - Quarterback: 380+yds avg per game
Best Special Teams Player
Best Coach
Quarterback has tied ALL NCAA (not just Div III) records today with 56 TDs so far this season (with possibly 2 more games to go!). Also tied record with 6 TD passes in one half. His pass efficiency as of last week was 200+!!!! He has not been intercepted in his last 140 passes.
Punt Returner is #1 in DIII with 21 yd average and is probably out until the finals with a shoulder injury. His replacement has been averaging like 25 yds!!!
They are also #1 in DIII offense at 51 points per game.
The Oregonian newspaper has stated in two different articles:
The best quarterback in Oregon college football is not a Div 1 player.
If you want to see a fantastic Air Show, go to a Wildcat game http://www.oregonlive.com/search/index.ssf?/base/sports/110164651282560.xml?oregonian?yspcbme
The quaterback is a Junior, a transfer from Utah (undefeated this year) who lost his starting position last season when he broke his wrist. Said he wanted to win a National Championship as reason why he came to school here. Looks like he's gonna have his opportunity!
You guys that live close to Salem Virginia really outta consider going to the Stagg Bowl this year (if the Wildcats make it). Reserved tickets are only $12.
