Granted they're just DIII but they've been ranked #2 all year. They just cleaned house today in the quarterfinals. Here's a recap:

On their first possession of game - 64 yard TD pass

They lose/turnover the ball on their next three possesions and the Tigers go up 17-7. The Tigers offensive line averages 292+ pounds!

Score at halftime: Wildcats 42 - Tigers 20. They easily won the game - 56-27

Linfield offense time-with-ball in first half - 9 minutes!

1st half stats: 6 TD passes, 300 plus yards passing

Quarterback finished the game with 404 yds and 7 TD's

Western Region Conference:
Best Offensive Player - Quarterback: 380+yds avg per game
Best Special Teams Player
Best Coach

Quarterback has tied ALL NCAA (not just Div III) records today with 56 TDs so far this season (with possibly 2 more games to go!). Also tied record with 6 TD passes in one half. His pass efficiency as of last week was 200+!!!! He has not been intercepted in his last 140 passes.

Punt Returner is #1 in DIII with 21 yd average and is probably out until the finals with a shoulder injury. His replacement has been averaging like 25 yds!!!

They are also #1 in DIII offense at 51 points per game.

The Oregonian newspaper has stated in two different articles:
The best quarterback in Oregon college football is not a Div 1 player.
If you want to see a fantastic Air Show, go to a Wildcat game http://www.oregonlive.com/search/index.ssf?/base/sports/110164651282560.xml?oregonian?yspcbme

The quaterback is a Junior, a transfer from Utah (undefeated this year) who lost his starting position last season when he broke his wrist. Said he wanted to win a National Championship as reason why he came to school here. Looks like he's gonna have his opportunity!

You guys that live close to Salem Virginia really outta consider going to the Stagg Bowl this year (if the Wildcats make it). Reserved tickets are only $12.

Forgot this

In the quaterback's first game with the team - he threw 360 (440 yards total offense) and 5 TDs - IN THE FIRST HALF. They took him outta the game in the second half.

Damn...impressive either way Xcel. Big game and tough test this week coming up against Rowan. Or, at least should be. Its amazing to see Mount Union in the mix each and every year. Hopefully your team and their QB continue to roll.

Hope things are well, bro..Take care.

Div III playoffs are divided into 4 brackets that ended up as:
Linfield Bracket
Rowan Bracket
Hardin-Simmons Bracket
Mount Union Bracket

Each of these top four seeds had a buy in the first round of playoff games. Linfield earned the #1 buy of all teams, which meant up until the final (a pre-determined bowl location) the have home field advantage.

Each of these top seeds made it to the semi-finals except for Hardin-Simmons. So far there are no real surprises. I believe the only surprise will be when #1 (by polls) Mount Union plays #2 Linfiled in finals. IMHO Mt Union was #1 all year based on their "past record," which has made it to the finals 11 times since 1991 and winning 7!!!

I think there's gonna be another "upset" this year :)

**broken link removed** - this summary basically predicts it will be Linfield vs Mt Union but with Mt Union winning it all.

While Elliott only threw 3 TD passes and 250 yd with 2 interceptions (he's only thrown 7 up til this point) he now officially holds the all NCAA record for touchdowns in a season at 59 with one more game to go. His backup quarterback threw a TD in the fourth quarter.

Linfield held off Rowan defensively - while the score doesn't reflect it, Rowan was an explosive team. Final score: 52 to 0 (which is about Linfileld's year avg ~51.8 PPG).

Mount Union lost to Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas), from the Hardin-Simmons bracket, 38-35. So it will be an all-west show at the Championship Game.

Too bad I can't afford to go back to Salem Virginia to the Stagg Bowl :(

nice to see people paying attention to the lower levels of football, I played for Grand Valley State who won the D-II national championship the past two years before losing in this years playoffs. There are alot of excellent athletes on these levels, it's fun to watch.
