vacation advice

I know this is the counseling forum and all but i had a question.. So my little brother is 15, we both have different fathers but i consider him MY brother not a half brother.. He means the world to me to say the least. We live in different states but probably talk to each other at least five times a week. He is a certified genius, accomplished musician and avid fencer, not to mention one of the funniest people i know. All this and he looks like the dude from the big labowski!! Hair and all... The thing is i feel us growing apart and i know its most likely because of his age and all, and i know he is experimenting with smoking pot too.. So i want to take him on a road trip.. I have been planning it for some time now and the thing is i have no idea what to do.. He is 15 acts 25 and has the common sense of a 5 year old..(most genius's do) I don't have a ton of money (1000$) to spend on it but i want to make it special, just him and i so i can be his big brother. I was thinking a fishing trip or something like that but i just can blow my budget on lodging alone. Does anyone have any advice? I'm in Colorado he is in Texas i was wanting to maybe go to the Ozarks and be lakeside for a few days or something like that. I'm open to suggestions for sure though.

best vacation..............

For this trip where you want to bond with him and have shared time...
maybe a camping type trip. something manly like a fish camp or hunting trip.
Manly activities that you guys could do again if you like.
Check in your area for deals like that.
You are close to ideal locations on both ends.

Gotta remember at 15 his priorities are switching from skateboards or whatever else... to GIRLS.
His peer group is the final say on whether he is cool or not. And parents or maybe even big brothers are uncool at best and if seen with him at school make him a child in the eyes of his peer group. All those hormones naturally flooding...all those little trashy highschool girlschool outfits...you know those girls are bad...
So let him have his teen angst. Its part of the deal.
ten years later he will remember the brother you were
and he wont forget you.

Thats actually what i want to do. I was thinking arkansas ozarks.. i went a few years back and loved it.. We both like fishing a lot.. I was just wanting to get away and build some memories..

one time................

had a friend who knew a guy who raised fish.
Natural artesian wellspring.
Lots of ponds through a hollow btween two hills.
Mostly fish for stock ponds and restocking for fishermen..
Bluegill and catfish and trout. also had a tank of Koi.
took my daughter then about ten
and me and my buddy did nothing
but bait her hooks and take fish off.
She worked us to death but loved every minute of it.
Thats a good memory for us.
